This did not help, I'm still having the exact same issue.

Hey @Mousestar369

Thanks for reaching out! Let's look at this together shall we.

You mentioned that the quick reinstall didn't prove useful. Does the same problem occur with other streaming apps? Try logging into your account on a friend or relatives device to see if the issue persists there as well.

Also, it's worth mentioning to clear your cached data, if you haven't already. You can follow steps on how to do so through our article on the matter.

Hope this helped out, keep us posted.

Updated Spotify on kindle fire now app not working, still working on my phone, both android

Hi - I'm getting this exact issue but with the app version 8.9.32.624 and I have a Kindle Fire 7 (7th generation). The app was working perfectly up until yesterday when the app got updated to this version. I've tried following instructions to do a clean re-install (and have even done a factory reset of the device then install the app again ) but the same issue keeps occurring - it'll open for a few seconds then close. I've emailed the developer contact to fix it but their instructions haven't yet helped resolve it.

Yeah I'm getting this same issue too,  I found all you can really do is just sit back and wait until they grace us with another update to fix it..

Hey there,

Welcome to the Community!

Would you mind sharing some more info on what happens with the app? Are you seeing any error messages, does it stop loading for example? If you ask a relative or a friend to log in to their account on the tablet, are they able to?

I recommend restarting the device if you haven't already done this and if it's a connection issue to test with a different internet connection if that's possible for you.

It'd also be very helpful if you could send a screenshot here so we can take a look at how things look like from your end and you can upload it via the Insert Image option in the post editor.

Hope to hear from you soon 🙂

Now seems to be fixed with the update 8.9.34.590, thank goodness!

I've tried clearing the cache, no effect. I don't use any other streaming apps in the way I use Spotify (screen off or on something else) but it doesn't seem to happen with them. It doesn't affect other devices logged into my account (my laptop or various tvs, for example).

Hey there @Mousestar369,

Thanks for your reply and for all the info shared.

From what you kindly mentioned, this seems to be related to your mobile device. In that sense, there are some additional steps we'd like you to try:

  • Do you use any cache-clearing or task-killing apps? Take into account that these apps can affect the performance of the app. We suggest setting up Spotify as an exception for those.
  • Open your account on a different mobile device to see if you can replicate it. If possible, you can ask for the mobile device of a relative or a friend to open your account there and check.

On another note, there is some additional info we'd like to gather:

  • Did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.
  • What's the exact Spotify version you are running on your device as per today?

Keep us in the loop!

And it's broken again with version 8.9.36.616, joy

HI there @DJones50,

Thanks for the replies. This issue was indeed investigated and resolved, but it's possible that the issue has resurfaced. So that we can investigate, please try the following steps if you haven't already and let us know how it goes.

  • Log out and back in at least twice in a row
  • Restart the device at least twice in a row
  • Disable any battery optimization and cache clearing apps/settings you may have
  • Remove SD card (if applicable)
  • Turn WiFi off > Launch app > Reconnect to WiFi

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

Version 8.9.38.494 seems to have killed it again.  Thanks for disabling the one app that I used my Fire for.

I too can't use Spotify on my kindle fire.  Hope they fix these bugs soon.

I've tried uninstall/reinstall, on/off, turn Wi-Fi off/on - noting seems to work - it was working before last update. Nothing sends to work

I agree I have kindle hd 7 running OS 5.7.1.0 and Spotify just open to the black screen showing the logo then it just closes it never opens to the login.

I am suffering the same issue since the last update. The app won't even  open, and flicks back to main fire screen. I have done everything that has been  advised above. We have a family plan and all other devices are working.

also having this issue on 5th gen fire, I'm fuming as I deleted old version of spotify that worked perfectly fine to save space and now latest version won't even open, and no option on app store to download previous versions - what a joke get it fixed, suggesting same steps over and over again (to reset app and turn kindle off and on again) obviously will not work when the issue is clearly with the app itself. GET IT FIXED SPOTIFY

Hi there!

Just getting on this thread now, as I am having the same problem with the 8.9.48.575 version i just downloaded on my Kindle Fire 7. I tried to reinstall the app a couple of times, but no improvements.

Any update on this bug?

Many thanks

C

I'm having this problem with my HD Fire 7th Gen.  Have tried everything on this page.  Spotify opens, then closes.

Too bad...been listening to Spotify for years on my Kindle.  End of an era, I guess.

Uninstalling for last time, then leaving it off.  Too much trouble.  I'll check in with Spotify again in a few years, when I finally move to a new Kindle.

  1. No, I do not use any apps of this nature.
  2. As I said in my original post, this issue has persisted across devices.
  3. No, I did not notice any specific update that started it.
  4. The exact Spotify version as of typing this is 8.9.60.560.
