Spotify connect not shuffling AT ALL

My Question or Issue

I'm using Spotify connect from my Android to a Yamaha receiver and it is not shuffling at all. It plays the songs in a playlist in order; you can actually see it switch. This isn't an issue of it cycling through a small number of songs or the algorithm - it just doesn't do it at all. I've tried reinstalling and it did not resolve anything.
