Spotify does not delete unchecked playlists

I am having a problem with Spotify that seems to keep my playlists in the cache for ages. I know it is supposed to keep them for a while after I uncheck them, but in the past this has been for 30 minutes or so. Now they stay for days. 

I know I can fix the issue by clearing the cache completely, but if I want to remove just a little bit of whatever I have online, this is a very frustrating thing to have to do as I will then have to download everything I want to keep once more. 

Obviously this must be a bug. It occured shortly after I upgraded to Nougat, so I am wondering if it is Nougat related.

I think you'll find that clearing the cache is the only way to free up space. People have been complaining about this for years.
