Spotify forced into Auto-Repeat via Bluetooth (Ford SYNC) - Issue isolated to Spotify app

Spotify forced into Auto-Repeat via Bluetooth (Ford SYNC) - Issue isolated to Spotify app

Whenever I connect my phone to my 2015 Ford EcoSport (Ford SYNC v5.11) via Bluetooth, Spotify automatically enables the "Repeat" button. If I tap to disable it, it instantly turns itself back on.

Crucial Detail: I tested YouTube Music and other audio players on the exact same Bluetooth connection, and they work perfectly. The forced repeat issue only happens inside the Spotify app.

Device and Software Details:

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S25

OS: Latest Android version

Spotify Version: Latest (also tested rollback versions)

Car System: Ford SYNC v5.11

Troubleshooting steps already exhausted:

Reinstalled Spotify and cleared cache.

Unpaired and repaired Bluetooth from both the car and phone.

Tested different AVRCP versions in Android Developer Options.

Downgraded Spotify to an older APK.

Disabled Absolute Volume in Developer Options.

Since other music apps do not have this issue, this is definitively a Spotify-specific bug regarding how it handles Bluetooth commands on the new Samsung S25 communicating with older Ford SYNC systems. Could the dev team please investigate this compatibility issue?

Hey @SenorAndre,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for reaching out about this.

We appreciate the troubleshooting you've tried so far and all the info you included in your post, it's really helpful. To investigate this further, would you mind disabling the repeat option direclty from the Android media notification controls (not inside the full Spotify app) to see if it snaps back on?

Also, could you check whether linking a different device via Bluetooth with your Ford EcoSport turns the repeat feature on as well?

Lastly, would you mind checking if the repeat option stays off if the app isn't connected to your car? Does it work properly with other Bluetooth devices?

We'll be waiting for your response.
