Spotify keeps clogging up memory

Why the **bleep** does spotify keep clogging up more and more memory!? It took up 8 gigs as of today ans completely clogged up my phone! The next most memory taking app on my phone takes 535 ish MBs. There is no excuse for this when I am not even downlaoding songs onto my phone and when it "supppsed to be the 'top' music STREAMING app" and has so much money being poured into it.
