Ever since the my phone updated to Spotify 8.7.24.1111, any time I'm listening to music and switch apps - to check new emails in Gmail, for example - Spotify stops playing. I believe it's either crashing or force closing because when I re-open it I get the Spotify splash screen and the song wants to restart from the beginning.

However, this is the best case scenario. Sometimes when I reopen Spotify the "Now Playing" bar is completely unresponsive and I get "No Internet Connection Available" messages, even though it's a song I've downloaded for offline listening and no other apps are complaining about being offline. In this case, I have to force close Spotify and it usually will start working again.

In some cases, though, restarting Spotify doesn't work - the Now Playing bar won't accept any taps at all, and I'll have to reboot the phone to get Spotify working again, which is annoying AF.

Hey @tunaman_jim,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome. We moved your post from Music chat to the help boards as its content fits better here.

In some cases, these types of issues could be related to corrupt cache stored on your device. For that, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the Spotify app as this is more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

If the issue persists, make sure that the app has the permissions to keep playing in the background and it's excluded from any restrictions or limitations by the battery saver in the settings of your device.

If the issue persists, would you mind checking if it happens on a different device? This will give us a better look at the issue.

We'll be waiting for your response.

Hey @tunaman_jim,

Thanks for sharing this issue with us!
We'd firstly advise performing a clean reinstall of the app.
If this doesn't resolve it, this is most likely connected to your internal cached data on Spotify's end.
In order to check if this is so, you could reach out to our support.
Ask them if all is well with your offline cached data and they'll take it from there!

Let us know how it goes.
We'll be on the lookout for your response 🙂

This app is garbage man, I literally can’t use the app without experiencing a bug. Yes , I have tried reinstalling.

Hey @Heytig,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Could you tell us more about your device setup like brand/model and operating system?

It is also important to make sure you've performed a clean reinstall with the steps described here

We also think, that this issue may be related to the permissions, that Spotify needs on your device to run in the background. Could you also check those? In most operating systems they're found under Settings -> Apps -> Spotify, but this may vary depending on your brand/OS.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!
