Spotify won't start

Hi people,

I would very much appreciate some help in trying to get Spotify to work on my old Android device. It's a Sony walkman model nwz-f805 running on Android 4.0.4. I can't update it any further so updating the OS is not an option. I have Spotify version 8.4.53.691 installed which is compatible with Android versions 4.0.3+.

When I try to open up the program, the screen turns blank black for a while then sends me straight back to my home screen.  I can't reach the option to login. I've already tried all the steps laid out in the stickied thread "[Android] Troubleshooting Spotify".

Anyone has any suggestions?
