The layout is different and it's driving me insane

So I switched from an I phone to an Android esque phone (google pixel 2) and the layout is different. Personally I really like how the layout is different but one thing kills me. I can't really remove things from recently played and it makes me frustrated. I can only "hide" things and when I do another playlist pops up or an artist radio that I can't hide. It's a never ending cycle of frustration and I'm crying because of it. I'm not insane I swear this is just something that ticks me off to no end it's like a clutter thing idk. Help or fix it.
