My Question or Issue
Harley quinn and joker podcast trailer will always play with video even with data saver on and canvas off and stream audio only on. I would like a way to turn off all video when data saver is on
Solved! Go to Solution.
Just installed Deezer! Let's see...
Same need here. Have family subscription and kids have their own accounts with content filtering set.
But after videos became available they don't use spotify for music. They just stare the videos. And those videos are quite often not appropriate for kids even if content filtering enabled.
Disabled kids accounts as Spotify doesn't serve the purpose it was purchaced for.
Need a way to disable videos for the kids. Without their ability to enabling them again.
I do not appreciate the unasked for showing of the video of a podcast I am listening to. How do I switch it off???
it really puzzles me why a music app doesnt have the option to disable video's completely. Some customers gets annoyed by it, I just want a relatively quick and easy interface without moving videos which takes space of my screen and distract me. It saves spotify data (/money) to not sent video's. So why not do it? I am considering stopping my premium because I get something I don't want
How many more comments do Spotify needs to stop these annoying videos?
I don't see a canvas setting in the web app in my browser. But I'm sure that Spotify's auto playing videos don't comply with accessibility requirements and so Spotify must offer an option to disable all videos, or otherwise risk a lawsuit when the European Accessibility Act will come into effect in Spring 2025.
Not much time left for Spotify, until we finally get rid of the annoying videos!
Adding my voice here. Please add a way to block all video content in the app: no canvas, no music videos, no video podcasts.
Same problem here. Its incredibly frustrating to have flashy videos autoplay with no option to disable them
Your app is just a music version of tiktok/youtube now. I'll probably just have to cancel our family sub because its not family appropriate.
But how did you ever think it was a good idea to implement **bleep**ing video in a audio app that ppl use on mobile data to a large extent and not have an option to disable video which is a complete waste of data if the phone is my pocket anyway. I can understand that it can be nice to have video if you have spotify running on the TV at home but most ppl that is on the move have no use and if this is a "premium" feature kinda makes me consider not paying for spotify instead...
I would like to be able disable all videos or animated pictures in the app anywhere. They're distracting and do nothing but get in the way of music playing. I've already found that Tidal, as an alternative, has very few videos and animations ns that auto play. As for kids, I absolutely cannot use Spotify anymore because all they want to do is watch rather than listen.

My Question or Issue
Recently, there have been "music videos" popping up on my Spotify dashboard — worse yet, some of the podcasts I listen to have been showing up as videos instead of just audio. This of course eats much more data — I'm on a metered Wi-Fi, which means every video I have to load that I won't even watch because all I care about is the audio (on my music streaming app) adds up to more money spent, except when I switch to mobile data for some reason. But I don't see any way to turn those videos off unless I'm using mobile data, which is kind of the opposite of what I want when listening to a four hour episode. I don't pay for a music streaming app so I can watch videos — there are plenty of other services out there for that, and it's not what Spotify offered when I decided to become a paying customer. I pay for the Family plan and with several kids using the app all streaming a video none of us will watch, it really adds up. Can someone direct me to the appropriate setting so I can turn this off?
Stop ruining this app with social media like thing. I don't want to see reel-like video previews of video podcasts or any other video anywhere. IT'S A MUSIC/AUDIO APP.
At least you could provide us with a smarter settings menu and the settings to turn off annoying things your Design Team thinks we want. STOP CHANGING A GOOD THING. UGH
If they don't fix this issue soon I will cancel my family subscription. It's a super annoying issue!
I use spotify because it's entertainment AWAY from videos that social media is constantly pushing. You have to let your users who don't want this to turn it off--especially users who use your service and want to conserve data.

My Question or Issue
Sometimes when I'm listening to an album at home, if a particular song has a music video, the video version of the song will start playing, sometimes this will be an alternative version of the song or will have diegetic sound that obviously isn't actually on the album. To disable this I have to do it manually for each song every time the issue comes up. I can't currently find a way to disable bug completely but surely it's possible on a music streaming app to be able to listen to an album uninterrupted...?
I caught my 4yo son watching violent gameplay videos on TV and immediately thought he cracked YouTube password. Nope, it was Spotify! Then I googled a way to turn videos off and to my astonishment, it's not possible!! So I'm obviously terminating my subscription as the app no longer meets my needs. Sad. Please, post alternatives here, if you know any.
Also while I was writing this, a huge pop-up blocked my screen asking me to answer a survey to which I clicked on the option "Yes, Later" but it immediately opened a survey. I'm obviously not answering this survey anymore.
Also, another pop up is permanently occupying the bottom party of my screen, although I dismissed it many times to no relief, then I answered it, but it's still asking the same thing again.
Lately all my experiences with Spotify have been annoying.
on spotify when i click a track it plays the music video not the audio version which is annoying
