Using Spotify through Arcam docking station

Hi, would appreciate some help please. Apologies in advance as I am not exactly techno competent. I am using a 4th generation ipod touch on a drArcam docking station which is connected into my hifi system. I am controlling the ipod with my Samsung S5 phone. I seem to be losing some bass response and have been trying to change the equalizer setting on both the phone and ipod as I have no controls on the predac/amp. My question is does the Samsung settings overide the ipod settings or vice versa. You can tell from this that I dont really understand how streaming works. Many thanks in advance.
