While offline, Android player wont show playlists

I have a considerable amount of music downloaded onto my android device. I had just been connected the night before downloading songs. My device is not celular, rather WIFI only.  Yesterday while in my car, I had stopped spotify, restarted it. After it restarted, spotify was unable to display any of my playlists.  All I would get is the spinning wait icon as it tried to connect.  I have not seen this happen in the past, first time was yesterday.

I've noticed in Settings, there is a "Offline" feature.  Will turning this on prevent that from happening in the future?
