Why does Spotify take up so much space?

I clear data and my cache, then within a few hours of listening my storage numbers are approaching 400mb. How is Spotify storing song data that balloons the app so badly, easily bumping storage needs to 2 gigs+. Any way to stop this storage hogging?

I don't know fam. Same here. I listen ro some tom petty and Hollywood undead then i get the low storage warning and have to go clear data
