My Question or Issue

As shown in the screen recording below, I get the Spotify notification (widget? not entirely sure what it's called) on my phone even though the app is not active. the song shown in the recording was last played on the Spotify on my laptop just moments before the notification showed up on my phone, and i don't know how it managed to 'sync' this way if the app wasn't active on my phone. it doesn't happen all the time, but this is lowkey what makes it worse because i might end up accidentally clicking into Spotify instead of another app i meant to address the notification on. i did a clean reinstall once, the problem stopped for a while, but then it happened again.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out!

I believe this can be turned off from your phone's Settings > Sound & vibration > Media. The options available may differ depending on the version of Android you're running. Something else you can do is force-stop Spotify or remove it from the list of apps in Autostart to see if that helps.

Another way to disable this is from Settings > Apps > Spotify > Notifications > Playback, but do keep in mind that this will turn off the media player in the notifications menu entirely, even when playing from the phone.

Hope this info was useful. Cheers 🤘
