latest Android app randomly stops playback

Hi -- I'm running the latest Android app on a Galaxy Nexus (GSM) with (stock) Android 4.0.4, and Spotify is frequently stopping playback for no apparent reason. The "currently-playing" track will stay in the notification bar as if it's stil playing, but the Spotify app will show no song playing. I can generally restart playback by tapping a song in the app, but sometimes I have to restart the phone before playback will resume. 

Is anyone else seeing this behavior? It's making Spotify unusable.

Well, it seems to be some issue with Spotify and Samsung phones. It is now 2017, I just got a Samsung Galaxy S8+ and it's been happening since I got this phone. (I use to have and HTC and had no issues). The music playlist just randomly stops regardless if I'm connected via 4g LTE or Wi-Fi. It's very frustrating. Nothing like putting on music, getting in the shower and having no music playing every single time ya get out of the shower. Or driving and jamming away, enjoying a song, and it just stops. Please FIX this.

I just got a ZTE phone with Android 6.0.1 and experiencing the same issues as stated in this entire thread.  It's 6/9/2017 and some of the posts are 3-5 years old.  Why no fix yet?  I also experience the spotty play (pardon the pun) on my Dell laptop.  And yes, I've tried all of the typical fixes suggested in the thread.  What gives?

Hey, I've been experiencing similar issue recently. When being online, music just stops after a certain song and I have to open the app to get it playing. So I rather stay offline and play downloaded music and then the same happens. After cca 30 mins uninterrupted playing it just stops and says "No music" on my phone's screen. When I open the app, it's stopped on the current song and pressing Play button gets it going again. But agree that this makes Spotify totally unusable, nothing more annoying that unlocking phone every 30 mins to get music playing. I was very happy user but this drives me crazy. I've tried to clear cache and uninstall the app completely and installing it again, didn't help.
