My Question or Issue

hi, managed to update spotify to version 9.1.24.1739

When I open it up and put in my mail and password to login, external browser window opens (firefox 130.0) with spotify page saying we need to verify you are a human. with captcha to confirm. The captcha keeps loading loading and doesnt ever load, waited for at least 15 minutes, tried refreshing the page, tried rebooting the device to no avail, stuck on (picture related)

Hi there @GrapField,

Thanks for reaching out.

While the Fiio in question is Android-based, the version it uses is heavily modified, so much so that the manufacturer don't even list it as a proper Android device on their website. Because of this, Spotify might be having trouble with the verifications required during the login process.

In this case, we recommend reaching out to Fiio themselves, as they can help you with their own specific OS. In general, you can find all minimum requirements for Spotify to work here.

Hope this clears things up.

Hi, Joan, thanks for the reply

Fiio support is hovewer a dead end, the device is not supported anymore and I have bad experience with reaching them about eol devices.

So there is no workaround? like prehaps resetting password from this device, or linking my account to google login or similar to go around that captcha? or any other way to authenticate that device manually...

Thank you for any further help!

Best regards,

Hi @GrapField,

Thanks for the reply.

If the device is no longer supported on the manufacturer's side, then this is the most likely reason why it isn't working. The password login should work as normal if it's functioning on other devices and you're welcome to try linking your account to Google or Facebook and see if that works for you. See here how you can manage your login methods.

If none of those work however, then unfortunately it would seem the device doesn't support Spotify anymore, as it's not possible to bypass vital security authentication steps. We recommend sticking to devices that cover the aforementioned minimum requirements.

Let us know if there's anything else we can do for you.
