music keeps momentarily stopping

Often when I'm listening on my phone (Samsung J7), there will be split-seconds of silence throughout songs. When it starts again the music picks up where it left off, not where it would be had the song continued playing. This happens whether I'm using data, wifi, or on albums I've downloaded. If I listen to the same song twice, the stops don't happen at the same time. I've had this issue on 2 different phones (same model), leading me to believe this is an issue on Spotify's end. Can anyone help??? It's driving me up the wall listening to music this way, and I'm starting to consider switching services.
