Change from Single premium to Family plan

Change from Single premium to Family plan

I have question regarding this matter. Hope someone could assist as well. Me and my housemate are all using Spotify Premium single and we would like to combine to Family Plan Premium instead. Since all are already Premium single subscriber, how will the process be after I upgrade mine to family premium and then invite them. Will their account automatically change or they must do upgrade at their side as well? Im really confuse about this

Hi @neelam,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

You can upgrade your subscription plan from individual Premium to Premium Family by following these steps:

  1. Log into your account page.
  2. Under Your plan, click Change Plan.
  3. Choose Spotify Premium Family.

Your billing and account will switch automatically to the new Premium Family plan from your next payment date (which you can view on your account page, under Your plan). At that time, you can invite your housemates to the new Premium Family plan by following the steps in this support article.

The billing and account also switch automatically for users who already have individual Premium and are joining a Premium Family plan; so your housemates don’t need to cancel or upgrade their subscription plans. After accepting the invite to join your Premium Family plan, they won't be charged for their accounts any further; their payments will instead be handled by the Premium Family plan manager (the person who started the plan).

Bear in mind that if your or your housemates’ Premium subscriptions are currently handled by a partner company, such as your phone or internet provider, you’ll need to contact them to cancel your Premium before being able to start or join a Premium Family plan; you can find their contact link on your account page, under Payment.

You can also read more about the Premium Family plan in this FAQ article.

But the question that I cannot see the answers to is:  under Family Premium, can a member listen to their OWN music ALL at the SAME time?????

Hi @willbwatt,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community, and welcome!

Members of a Premium Family plan will all keep their individual Spotify accounts, with all of their saved music and the ability to listen to music at the same time on their own devices.

Only the billing will change, as it will be carried out only by the Family plan manager (the person who started the plan) and not by each individual member.
