No they are not really.
However my phone is set to dark mode. My user ava is black so it isn't visible in the interface. Ever since the new interface the cog icon is gone so it took me some time to figure out were the setting option were hidden and are accesible by tapping my profile picture or by swiping. That means an additional action, besides the fact that black ava's on a black background are not vissibl e...
I liked the visible cog icon better.
