UI Update: First reason to consider Dropping Prem Sub

UI Update: First reason to consider Dropping Prem Sub

Spotify is and always has been a music app, that now offers extra services/content. That being said, there is no reason why they should be pushing so hard in the newest UI update for consumers to see every podcast they've glanced at and newest releases for them. The new UI as well removed the "recently listened to" functionality where before there was one line the user could scroll through. There is also no longer the offering of daily mix which is incredibly disheartening. As someone using a Galaxy Fold phone, I have a rather large screen, there is no reason why with the new UI that only two icons should be available on my screen (see photo attached).

Recommendations to UI Dev team.

1) When rolling out new UI, make an option in settings to revert back to previous interface. A metric can be placed on that for the team to track how many users are rejecting the new UI.

2) In regard to podcasts and audiobooks, quit recommending at ad nauseam if said users are not biting bait. This metric can be tracked to. The whole point of recommendation tabs is to promote user engagement. When users are frustrated they disengage, like right now.

3) Revert back to previous UI. There was a perfection in it's simplicity and offering style/size.

At least the new UI is bigger and easier to read.

Otherwise, everything else you mentioned is spot-on.

It sucks that Spotify is the only streaming service available on the widest variety of platforms (and on some platforms the only streaming service).

It also sucks that they don't have hi-res audio yet (and at this rate, probably never will).

Why else would they have announced hi-res audio (CD-quality/1441kbps) is coming and then gone silent? I smell disagreements with the various record labels and worldwide distribution agreements, as there has been no update since February (see this press release).

Apple has done it with Apple Music, with the big catch that Apple/Beats Music is not available on very many platforms.
