Credit Card Subscription Problem

I recently got a new debit card number and when i tried to change my number on Spotify it said my card was declined.  I called my bank and I guess the problem is that Spotify was trying to charge $0.00 to my card which isn't allowed.  How can i circumvent this problem?

You could try and add your debit card to paypal and see if that works?
