Disconnect from facebook

How do you disconnect from facebook?

Hi Rhcp- All you need to do is go to your Preferences page: Edit > Preferences (in Windows) or Spotify > Preferences (in Mac)

Under 'Social Network' select 'Disconnect from Facebook'. That's it. You're good to go.

Did you sign up with Facebook after it was made a requirement? If yes, you are permanently connected and can't disconnect.

I believe I signed up through Facebook, but my Spotify account is linked to a secondary FB profile I have, and I want to change it to my primary. How can I do that, since disconnecting my Facebook account isn't an option under preferences?

I got my account before the Facebook integration (more specifically, in 2009) and so have been logging in through my own made up username. I recently updated to Premium and in preferences I tried disconnecting from Facebook. My spotify applications crashed and I had to log in again. Then I got the question "Are you this #######(numbers)-user or a new user. I picked the numbers (which I had no idea that I was) and then it says hello XXXX (my name) and asked for password to this random number-username, which of course I did not have. After a while I was able to figure out how to get back in, but I still can't disconnect from Facebook. I have found information on your webpages that everyone that signed up after your integration to Facebook can't disconnect, but that users that signed up before that can. Since I signed up in 2009 I assume I should be able to disconnect from Spotify, right? I have the same username for Facebook as I have for Spotify, may this be causing some trouble?

Josephine - I've just disconnected them for you. For future reference, you'll be able to disconnect your Facebook account from the 'Preferences' menu in your Spotify.

Thank you for helping me, however, I don't think you have suceeded disconnecting them because I cannot access Spotify with my Spotify username and password (may it have something to do with the fact that I changed my Facebook password just 10 minutes ago, and that is STILL the one I have to use to log on to Spotify?)

Josephine - You should be able to log in with "gro-anita" as your username. If you need to reset your password, you can do so over at this page - https://www.spotify.com/password-reset/

Facebook is no longer required to sign up.

However, because you signed up using a Facebook account, you're permanently connected. The only way to disconnect is to make a new account and start over.

Make a new account. That's the only way. Cancel your premium and create a new account without Facebook. Do this by going to the sign up page and choose "create an account using email address" at the bottom of the page.

If you signed up with a Spotify account and later connected it to Facebook, you could log in using the old details and disconnect from facebook on preferences, but this option is not available for you if you originally used Facebook to sign up.

Thanks for your quick answer! But the problem is I got a year free spotify preium trough, telia (danish telephone company). So i dont know what to do, because then i loose that and have to pay for it.

Brownettgarfiel - Should you set up another account, if you speak to Telia, they may be able to transfer the subscription over for you.

Hei Spotiy people! I have also the same problem! 

Today I tried to disconnect my facebook from my original spotify-account, as I feel facebook is eating it's way into my music world, and I dont want it to happen! Latest change, to describe my problem, was that I needed to log in true facebook from last week to use my spotify account. And you and facebook wont let me use my origional password, but I have to wait for a generated password true SMS. 

Ok, so I tried to disconnect facebook from spotify today in my preference, and deleteded my spotify app at facebook. And what happend? No I cant login to spotify. I cant get any password for my orginal spotify account because it tells my that I am using facebook login. And when I try to login true facebook my premium subricption and everything is deleted.....help!

Simonfur - This account appears to have been created through Facebook, so you won't be able to disconnect it. You mention your original account, do you have a username for this?
