I wasn't sure where to put this, so I'm just putting it here.
The following text was posted by greg777 on www.spotify-forum.com, but it hadn't gotten any answers, and probably not many views. And I'm in the exact same situation.
I've been a premium user for over a year now, after being a basic user for some time before that. At first I thought spotify premium was the greatest thing ever, but over time a number of things - all to do with content - have changed my view. Firstly the ECM label disappeared - this was one of the key drivers in me moving to premium, but it pretty quickly disappeared. I then started to find that a lot of longer tracks on some labels I wanted to listen to were not available- this is really annoying. More recently I've found that another label I'm a big fan of - K-scope, has also disappeared, then to top it all, this afternoon I decided I wanted to listen to a bit of Mike Oldfield for some reason, and I find that all the long tracks are no longer available- crazy.
This is all at a time when spotify seems to be focussing all its efforts on gimmicks like social networking, and generating revenue through selling tracks via the latest updates that were launched with a big fanfare recently. None of these things matter to me - the most important thing, and surely spotify's core business, is THE MUSIC.
Come on spotify, please spend more time and resources on negotiating with labels so that there are no longer these long track gaps, and lets get the labels like ECM and K-scope back on board.
These are the things I signed up to premium for, not facebokk gimmicks. I'm a serious music fan, hopefully there are lots of others who want the same as me, so please listen, or at least give us some feedback on what the issues are so we can make an informed choice whether to stick with spotify in the future.
Hey there!
Our content and label relations team are always looking trying to get artists and license holders involved with Spotify. For example, last month, Spotify were the first streaming service where users can listen to the entire Red Hot Chili Peppers catalogue - and we hope to add more and more artists to that list in the future.
I managed to locate some longer tracks by Mike Oldfield, like a new stereo mix of Tubular Bells right here - does this show up for you too?
Yes it does show up, and thank you for a good answer!
However, what I miss the most is probably K-scope, with two of my favourite bands: Anathema and Porcupine Tree.
There are some old Anathema albums there, but not the two newest: "We're Here Because We're Here" and "Weather Systems".
Also the newest album from Nightwish - "Imaginaerum" - is missing. And the solo albums of one of my favourite vocalists James LaBrie (InsideOut/Century Media).
I have the music on my computer for my own listening, but it makes sharing with my friends so much more complicated.
Hey!
I'm a big Porcupine Tree fan too - I'd love to listen to Stupid Dream sometime in the future, but I'd need to dig out a CD, which could be anywhere by now. And I saw Anathema supporting them once.
I managed to locate "We're Here Because We're Here" in two different locations. Let me know if either of these work for you -
"Come on spotify, please spend more time and resources on negotiating with labels so that there are no longer these long track gaps, and lets get the labels like ECM and K-scope back on board."
any update on this question/request?
"Imaginaerium" by Nightwish just dissapeared. I already had it in my Playlist now for months and listened to it the last days, but just now it is not available anymore. WTF happened???
Also I just noticed that the albums "Oceanborn" and "Angels fall First" have dissapeared as well, there are only the singles left! WTF?
