Redownloading purchased tracks

Redownloading purchased tracks

All the tracks that i download are stored in the "Spotify" folder in "Music" on my computer as i presume are most peoples.  Has anybody had the problem where the tracks dissappear form the folder and have to be redownloaded. Is the reason for this that the extra downloads for each track have to be used by a certain time, so tracks are deleted so you have to use the redownloads that are allocated to each track. In any case how do they get deleted in the first place

Hey stormin59, welcome to the Community.

I can't think of any reason why your music downloads should be disappearing like that. Have you tried running a search on your computer to see if they've been moved somewhere?

Re: redownloading purchased tracks.

I have a new computer and so when I installed Spotify on my new laptop all of my previously purchased tracks have disappeared. There is also nothing in my local 'music' folder.  Can anyone help?

You'll need to redownload them as locl files aren't stored anywhere other than in the original folders on your computer. If you still have the old machine and the hard drive works, you should be able to copy those files over.

If those were tracks purchased from the Spotify Downloads Store, be aware the store (and ability to redownload content) has been removed.

Are you saying the £45 or so of Spotify credit I spent on music downloads is lost?  Does this mean I cannot recover any of the tracks I purchased and downloaded? That's pretty strange if that's the case...? Can anyone clarify why I can't download my previously purchased tracks and why Spotify has not remedied this (for example, to notify users that they were pulling the service and that there would be no refunds)...

@user-removed - Unfortunately you are correct, the downloads store in Spotify and all related functionality (redownloading etc) has now been completely removed (for some time now).

If you have any questions or issues with this, I would suggest you get in touch with Spotify directly. There are several ways to get in touch!

If you have Twitter, following and dropping a Tweet to @SpotifyCares (English), @SpotifyAyuda (Spanish) or @SpotifyAjuda (Portuguese) is often the fastest way to get a reply and they can deal with the majority of issues excluding payment/billing issues.

Alternatively, you can email them (in any language) using the online contact form. There is also a special contact form if you can't remember your login details or the email address on your account is incorrect. The contact form support team should be able to handle absolutely any issue you are having!

When getting in touch via the contact forms, if you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the support agents will get back to you as soon as possible.
