Spotify Price Change?

Spotify Price Change?

Hi, so for the past 9 months that I have been a spotify user, the charge has constantly been $9.99. Recently, (as in this month) I was charged $10.69. The difference is $0.70 and I don't really mind, I was just wondering why this is. Were taxes added on to the monthly payment? Or has something else changed?

Hi 🙂

Yes, Spotify now charge sales tax on their subscription price 🙂

I live in Florida, and the Tax was added a couple weeks ago. However it's now gone today and back to $9.99. I know myself, and a lot of other people from Florida (and all other states) complained in another thread and via email. If your price still includes tax, email them. They must have a physical locaton to charge tax. On top of that, you usually can't charge tax on a Service. Or perhaps your state Tax codes do requre it.

Isn't it different in every state?

Well done though - you finally got your way (now, can you stop going on about it :P).

Does it go by state ? Because I am In Oregon where there is no sales tax...

Yes it does, make sure your ZIP code is correct on your online profile:

If you don't think you should be paying sales tax, get in touch with the customer services team directly using the online contact form and they will be able to look into it a little further for you.

If you get an automated email reply back directing you to the community or help pages, you need to reply directly to that email (even if its from no-reply) and one of the customer services agents will get back to you as soon as possible.

Alternatively, if you prefer support via Twitter, please tweet @SpotifyCares.
