Stream Keeps Cutting Out

Stream Keeps Cutting Out

Spotify, is it too much to ask that 320k quality music be streamed at the same speed that 320k mp3's would download at?

I'm fed up with the stream starting and stopping all the time. I don't pay a monthly fee for this rubbish.

My internet connection is TPG, unlimited, unthrottled, 20MBps ADSL2+ (though usually pulls about 13MBps). I have re-booted my router several times. The problem is not with my firewall (I don't use one on my MBP) and neither a problem with my internet, as I can download albums from iTunes in minutes, and listen to high quality radio no problems at all.

I mainly use Spotify on a MBP (OSX 10.8.2) and iPhone 5 (iOS6), however I have also tried it on an iPhone 4 (iOS6) and Windows Vista SP2 laptop all encountering the same issue.

I see from numerous other posts on these forums that other users have been encountering the same issue. Why hasn't there been an official statement from Spotify or at least a help document somewhere stating what the issue may be and what to do about it, other than reinstalling the application (trust me, been there, done that.)?

Originally when I signed up I thought it was some kind of teething issue with Spotify only just having been made available in Australia, however it's continued ever since. I'd like a refund on my "premium" subscription for the past few months, otherwise I'll be considering cancelling it altogether.

On top of all that, why doesn't support reply to user's forum posts? I have posted about a couple of albums which do not appear in Spotify and have heard no reply weeks later...

While we try and help out the best we can, the Spotify Community is not an official place for support. Things like refund requests should be directed toward the contact form

In regards to playback issues, we've not experiencing any problems at the moment, so we may need to look into your connection.

On your router's settings, have you enabled UPnP at all?

There is no way that it is a router problem or a problem with a user's computer. There are way too many people having the EXACT SAME PROBLEM! I am having the problem along with each of my friends who use Spotify. Please really look into it and fix the problem and stop telling people that its their router when even the most computer illiterate can figure out that it is not on the client-side of things.

At the same time, this can hardly be a Spotify issue if it does not effect everyone.

Everyone hates it when their music stops playing, if you are having issues do they still occur if you turn off "High Quality Streaming" in the Edit > Preferences window? You might want to disable other features such as hardware acceleration whilst you are there too.

I have been experiencing this problem a lot in the last few weeks (it was always fine previously). Also spotify crashing peridocially. I'm no IT expert but I've tried the obvious - restarting the programme, restarting my computer, checking I don't have too many applications open. The only thing that seems to help is what the above poster suggested about turning off 'High Quality Streaming' in preferences.

Help please spotffy. I am payng you guys!! i cant play you at all coz you keep cutting out on my laptop. My page will not even stay up long enough to switch off the high quality streaming you suggested but when i once did get that far, it just would not resond to being shut off. Please can i ahev some personal service. can you contact me please and help.am missing my sounds!!
