Hello, recently Spotify Car Thing will not respond to voice commands. When I say "hey Spotify" it shows that it is listening, then Immediately says something went wrong. I have tried all the trouble shooting steps and none have worked. Please help.
"I also have an iPhone running the ios 16 beta which I connected to my carthing running Spotify version 8.7.56.464 and the voice commands worked with no hesitation."
This may be key. I have an Android. I'll try in a couple days with an iPhone.

Just tried with an iPhone and it works flawlessly.
New update and another factory reset did nothing.

Having the same issue. Voice commands are recognized but then says something went wrong. Tried factory reset but it didn't fix it. This has been going on for about a month.

Hey folks,
Thanks for getting in touch about this.
Could you send us the info @Alex asked for previously? We'll pass this on to the right teams to be looked into.
We'll be waiting for your replies.
Hello Alex,
I am having the same issue as others in this thread. Voice commands are recorded on the screen but they aren't recognized; the one exception being "stop". And, like others, I have followed every suggested step to rectify this problem, factory resets, and clean reinstalls, to no avail.
Galaxy S22 Ultra, Android 12, latest updates on phone, and Spotify software.
My app version is updated to 8.7.64.478 this weekend and the problem is now resolved for me. If you're still experiencing this issue its recommended to force an app update and try again. Good luck.
I have auto-update set on mine, but it hasn't updated to 8.7.64.478 yet. How do I force an app update? There is no option to select "Update" in the Google Play Store. Thank you.
Tap your account Icon in the upper right on the search bar.
Then tap on “Manage apps & device”.
From this page you should see app update options.
Same issue for a month now that I posted about at the beginning of this thread.
Voice commands like "Show artist or play driving music" work on iphone but not on android. Simple commands like "Pause, play, next" still work.
Galaxy Note 20 Ultra Android 12
Spotify Version 8.7.66.534
Car Thing App version 0.36.38, OS Version 7.3.9, Model No. YX5H6679
Still doesn't work after full clean install on phone and factory reset on Car Thing
Same issue, purchased Car Thing a couple weeks ago and voice commands give similar errors. "Pause, play, next" work.
Galaxy S10+ Android 12
Spotify Version 8.7.66.534
Car Thing App version 0.36.38, OS Version 7.3.9, Model No. YX5H6679
Still doesn't work after full clean install on phone and factory reset on Car Thing
I'm having the same issue on two car things. My wife's iPhone 13 works fine on both but my Android phone doesn't.
Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra
Spotify Version 8.7.66.534
Car Thing app version 0.36.38, OS Version 7.3.9, Model: YX5H6679
I've tried a full clean uninstall and reinstall of Spotify and factory reset on the Car Thing multiple time without success.
The Spotify update fixed this issue for me on Android 13.
Seems like spotify version 8.7.66.534 resolved it
Recent update version 8.7.66.534 seems to have fixed it for me now as well. Hopefully the fix sticks.
UPDATE: Issue resolved in latest Spotify update a couple days ago to 8.7.66.534.
UPDATE: Now it works SOME of the time but not other times, with no real reason why.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra
Spotify Version 8.7.66.534
Mine works when I clean reinstall Spotify on my phone. But reverts to same problem once the Bluetooth connection is broken. I'm very, very tired of reinstalling Spotify every time I get in the car.
After struggling with this for a few weeks and scouring the internet for solutions I finally found something that works for me. I'm on Android 12 using the latest version of Spotify, and I'm not sure what version of car thing I'm on but it didn't seem to matter. The thing that worked was uninstalling my Spotify and reinstalling and then, and this is the most important part, go into the Spotify settings and choose "set up car thing" and set it up again. Voila. Functionality was restored. I hope this works for other people as well.
That worked for me too... for half a day. Unfortunately it seems to be a recurrent issue. I hope yours sticks for you.
