Additional Spotify Profile Customization

I wanted to see something that was different, something more personal to spotify!

I've used spotify for years, but it wasn't personal enough. Maybe a bio would be nice, and some spots for a favorite featured artist, album, and song. A song blurb section/description would be cool too! I made a mockup/visual representation as well! Used my profile for it!

I think we could really use some more ability as to customizing profile pages.

Maybe the ability to showcase specific songs without compromising the ability to hide listening activity?

If that was added, we could place specific songs that we like on our profiles, and still be able to keep our activity private.

Maybe the ability to set our own profile pictures, for those of us who didn't connect with Facebook?

That would be a very important feature that is currently lacking.

Maybe the ability to set a biography?

Feature links to social media accounts?

Convert an account to an Artist Page?

Set a custom color?

Add a banner image?

Post statuses?

Have a Green/Online and Red/Offline mode so that you can tell who's online.

Here's a big one: being able to find user profiles without knowing the spotify:user:code ?

There are TONS of other things that could be added to improve the look and feel of personal profile pages. There are more than I can possibly think of or come up with.

I would really like to see personal profile pages improved.

Okay. I'm done ranting. Have a song to listen to! Please give kudos if you feel the same way about profiles!

Hello This is a Great idea 🙂 You can give your kudo also there : http://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-Ideas/Better-customized-profile/idi-p/25207 But The other Post is not so Good like this One. 🙂

Oh, didn't see the link that Amarro posted when I searched.

It is now closed, but there are some good ideas there that could be implemented.

Marked as new idea - it will re-open the topic from this inactive idea.

This idea will be about the ability in general to customize your profile page. There are also some sub-ideas of this one already out in the ideas exchange if you want to add your kudos there e.g. Picture on Profile & Choose own top songs. 😉

geekycreeper

Okay, Marko! Thank you so much!

Really hoping to see some of these changes implemented!

@geekycreeper I think this is an awesome Idea.

In addition to all of the additions you suggested, I think that there should also be a "Music Preferences" or a "Music Taste” or a "My Music" tab to the right of the followers tab.

Capture.PNG

This "Music Preferences" tab should show the following if the user so choses to disclose:

1.Top 10 favorite artist, top 10 favorite songs, top 10 favorite albums and top 10 favorite playlist charts that the user can update at any time. (You could offer more top 10 favorite charts the               possibilities are endless there)

 2. Favorite genres

 3. Favorite instruments. Do they play an instrument?

4.Concerts they have been to / Concerts they are planning on seeing or want to see

This will allow one to easily search through other Spotify users, and immediately identify whether or not they have a similar taste in music.

I know the idea of  personal top list was brought up here " https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Bring-Back-Personal-Top-Lists/idi-p/1046692 " by @megandryder

which is a great idea. I just think that the personal top list as well as the other recommendations could all be put on one page.

Pretty much the point of all of this should be to help users better connect with each other and therefore help them discover new music.

These would be awesome! Also, while we're at it, how about the ability to set a screen name? You know, without Facebook?

Spotify User Profile Page: About/Bio category tab

Add *About/Bio category tab on Spotify User page:

* About/Bio - for the category tab use either About or Biography, not both, or another suitable word.

For example:

About  Overview   Public Playlists   Following   Followers

*About/Bio section:

* Option to write About/Bio text: about me (personal or professional), e.g. max 250 words

* Option to link to website

* Option to embed a short video (Personal: eg. a music video you like. Professional: eg. artist’s video portrait / artist’s music video)

At the moment I think Spotify is lacking in its way for friends to interact with each other, creating a more profile driven account might encourage new users or current users to start using the service more. Implementations include:

  • Profile customisation
    • Adding cover art to a profile
    • Having a 'Songs on the week' or 'month' section that doesn't involve having to create a new playlist for it
    • Direct messaging to be able to send songs to people instantly
    • An 'About Me' section

Would be great to see if some of these features could make it to Spotify one day.
