#MusicMonday Review - December 2025

osornios

#MusicMonday is the hashtag I've been using for quite a while to share music recommendations from up-and-coming artists. Always fresh, and always different, trying to look for trends before they become one. You can check November's review for more music.

To finish the year, we bring you an all UK lineup, covering a whole range of genres, themes, and moods. Give them a listen, with a word from the artists themselves. 🎧

Delves In Time – Big in Berlin

DelvesInTime.jpg

Grey blocks rise in the freezing night
The City life fades in the fading light
Sound club calls and the lights go low
High heels click where the young ones go

I’m big in Berlin
Under the shadow of the wall
I hear David Bowie call
Bahnhof Zoo is where we ran
Losing more than we began

We begin with an energetic Post Punk track, featuring an 80s inspired synth bass line that takes you to the 'Sound', a sonic evocation of german nightclubbing:

"Big in Berlin was inspired by the cult 1981 film Christiane F. — I was struck by how young the kids were when they fell into that world. A trip to Berlin and visiting the film’s locations gave me a deeper connection to the story, and that atmosphere shaped the song."

Cheap Escape – Man Of The People

CheapEscape.jpgMan of the people

name your price

You're only messing with people's lives

We now travel to Kirkcaldy, Scotland for a high energy Punk Rock song featuring a catchy baseline every elected official could dance to:

"Man of the People was written in the run up to the UK General Election in 2024. The song takes aim at populists from all political persuasions, in the age of social media, culture wars and disinformation.

We were all just a bit annoyed at the state of things in the world, and it came out in the form of the song! The whole EP was inspired by the hopelessness brought about by the people in power and it carries a lot of that in the lyrics."

Midnight Housework – Just to be Enough

MidnightHousework.jpgIt felt like love
When she came around
But it hurt like hell
When she ran away

We went different ways
Down the road of life
On the lonely days
I still see you in my mind

Do you fear the past
Will taint your future life
Even weary minds
Will one day find the light

Next stop, an bittersweet Alt Ambient Rock track from Belfast, Ireland that knows that there's no right way to live your life, just hold on tight, and enjoy the ride:

"Instrumentally the song came from a guitar part that was meant to be in another song, but the band felt like the idea was strong enough to stand on its own feet and we went from there. So there wasn’t anyone or anything we were directly wanting to take influence from, it was a more organic, almost improvised process."

Future Theory – The Haze

FutureTheory.jpg

Get out the way I need you
Leave me to settle
Think I'm a fool

Thoughts are like whispers
Dreams are like ghosts
Maybe I'm young maybe I'm old

We now move to Lincolnshire, England, for an atmospheric, psychedelic Alternative track about being a complicated self half the time, but positive in our minds. Are we wasting our lives? Band member Max explains:

"The guitar part and vocal melody came first then [band member] Jacob added some bass.

I got the lyric inspiration from things I see around me and how I've felt and how many people have felt. Something that can connect with people and that's being lost in life, not knowing your purpose, so many people seem lost. Like you feel like you're stuck in a haze that you can't get out of.

Sounds a little depressing but then the song has much hope and the end really makes use of that. A sense of working your purpose out."

The Blooms – Reminisce

See my soul being changed my way
I think I'm getting weaker day by day

We finish in Derby, England, for an Indie Rock track whose distorted guitar sound takes us to an Indie scene gone by. Reminisce:

"As simple as it sounds it just came from a writing session of taking a step back and thinking about things in the past and how times have changed within the band, all of our personal lives and within the city of Derby where we’re from, it’s mainly just a song about looking back on the past and how you can interpret it with many different moods."
