Hey Folks!
Spotify Star Mateus here, for part 2 of our Star Jam blog. If you didn’t catch part 1, you can check that out here.
As a quick reminder, we’re reflecting on a special week of events that just took place for our Spotify Stars Program. The magic of “The Jam”, a celebration that takes place both virtually and in-person (this year at Spotify’s Sweden HQ).
As Stars, we are volunteers who support Community users all year round. We hope this blog really gives you a feel for what the Stars Program is and what opportunities it provides.
So, let’s get to it. While the in-person Jam was happening in Stockholm, our online crew gathered for a full week of virtual events that turned into something just as lively. It didn’t matter that we weren’t in the same room, the vibe was strong, the conversations were flowing, and the sense of community was there in every activity.
With double points running all week, (we earn points for our contributions for additional perks, like the in-person Jam!), we came together not only to help out, but also to join the events and enjoy each other’s company.
Here’s a look back at everything that happened across the week.
Monday: Listening Party with Noah
As mentioned in part 1, we opened the week with a Listening Party hosted by our very own Star Noah, and it immediately set the tone. The playlist had this cool space-themed atmosphere, and people were reacting in real time as if we were sitting together in the same room. We’d added tracks in advance, and jumped in on the spot to talk about the production style, the mood, and even the memories certain tracks brought back. It felt easy, open, and surprisingly personal for a virtual session. A few of us even saved songs on the spot to revisit later.
Tuesday: Thank You Video from Mods and CMs
Tuesday had a slower pace, but in a good way. As Stars we communicate in Slack, and we logged in to the surprise of a heart-warming thank you video from our Community Moderators and Managers. It was short and simple, but it hit with the right message. They talked about the support we give every day, the impact it has for users, and the consistency and the kindness.
Wednesday: Make Something Challenge
Midweek was all about creativity. In our private chat boards, we had a “Make Something Challenge”, which invited us to share a creation such as drawings, crafts, digital art, photography, etc in the Spotify theme. To no surprise, the in-person Stars shared their snow creations from the Stockholm Jam, whilst most others got arty with pens and paper (and even fruit). I love that it showed a different side of the community that we don’t always get to see!

Thursday: Music Quiz
Thursday saw a Music Quiz bringing a little competitive energy. We had to guess the tracks within seconds. As we help out in the Community around our personal lives and work, this was a nice and easy but interactive game to keep us connected. Some people discovered they were faster than they thought, while others joked about how they froze under pressure.
Friday: Call with Desktop Dan
On Friday, as the week closed in, we had a call with a member of the Desktop team, who we’ve been fortunate to meet a few times on virtual calls now (and at in-person Jams for some of us). He’s always bringing such a calm and friendly presence to the conversation. He talked about what the team has been focusing on, the balance between adding new things and keeping the interface clean, and the kind of feedback they look out for. People asked everything from small details to bigger vision questions. It was one of those sessions where you walk away understanding the product a little better.
The weekend!
Saturday was all about humor, with a meme-challenge which turned out way funnier than expected. And on Sunday, we wrapped up with a Special Shout-Outs thread to recognise each other and the spirit of Community. Stars mentioned teammates, mods, people who helped them during the week, or simply folks who brought something positive to the community. It felt like the right ending to a week that was full of teamwork, connection, and shared moments. Even online, it was clear how much everyone contributed to making the Virtual Jam feel alive.
I want to close out with a huge thanks to one of the special moderators @Novy, who put together this year’s virtual agenda!
Across the whole week, this virtual version of Jam showed once again that the heart of the Star Program isn’t tied to a location. It’s the people, the conversations, the way everyone feels comfortable sharing things, and that natural desire to be part of something together. Whether you joined one activity or all of them, you helped shape the week, and that’s what made Virtual Jam 2025 one to remember.
