Artist name error that has not been corrected over the years even after multiple reports.

Artist name error that has not been corrected over the years even after multiple reports.

 

I am a user, not an artist. There is a mistake in the artist name and I have reported it multiple times since several years ago and it has never been corrected.

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

 

Reporting errors like this through the content report form is great, however when it comes to artist names, the Artist or the record label/ rights holders might have the final word on how the artist name is uploaded to their Spotify profile. You might also want to reach out to the artist on social media about this.

When you find that the title or author's name is printed incorrectly on a paper book you purchased from Amazon or a bookstore, do you contact the author every time? Most people would report the problem to the bookstore or publisher.

If a song or artist name is wrong on spotify, it is the job of spotify support to contact the distributor, etc. to correct it, and it is crazy that it has taken them several years to correct it. I doubt the quality of the service.

Since you've reported this content error, the Spotify Content team has most likely reviewed it. Issues like this usually get resolved quickly. However, in some cases the final word on matters like this is given by the content creator or copyrights holder, if that's the case there's not much that can be done from our end.

 

Nevertheless, I've reported this error as well. I can't say for sure when or if this will be fixed, as I don't have access to that kind of information.

I don't know how long you consider quick, but the Japanese spotify service does not seem to be quick.
None of my reports to Japanese spotify support about multiple song/album errors have been addressed in more than a few years.

Please let me know if there is a way to improve this kind of Japanese spotify service other than reporting to support multiple times.

There is a glitch where some songs have E-mark (Explicit content) and some do not, depending on the album in which they are recorded, even though they are by the exact same artist and have the exact same content.

There is a typo in the title of the music. What should be hyphenated is a vertical bar.

There is a problem where two to three or more multiple artist pages are assigned to the same artist, which should be one.

Thanks for your extensive report.

 

Our colleagues over at Customer Support and the Content team do look over the reports, but we can't guarantee that everything can and will be solved, as the names of songs and albums are uploaded by the rights holders and changes need to be synced with them, as I explained in my previous posts. 

 

We appreciate your feedback on all this and we've passed it over to the right teams at Spotify. We assure you that your reports are valued and reviewed.


As for the same name artists, Spotify is aware this is sometimes happening and we're working on improving this as well based on user reports.

As @Alex says, it would be nice if mistakes in artist names and song titles were quickly corrected in a matter of weeks or months. That is a very simple thing, such as a typo. But it seems to me that probably won't happen. Maybe in a few years I will report to the community that the same same artist name mistake or song title mistake I reported this time was not corrected.

Even though spotify customer support is aware of the glitch of duplicate same artist, the duplicate artist name that I posted to this community two years ago is still not resolved to this day.

We understand that it can be difficult or time consuming to completely fix glitches and artist or song name errors on spotify.

Premium plan users pay for and use the service just like any other video or e-book service. Compared to Japan's NETFLIX and Japan's amazon prime video, which actually fix problems within days to weeks of reporting them, Japan's spotify customer support is significantly poorer and has not improved at all despite repeated requests to improve customer support quality. The customer support is not improving at all.

We don't know if this is a worldwide spotify problem, a Japanese distributor problem, or a Japanese artist problem, but spotify should make an effort to improve by contacting the distributor to resolve these issues. Spotify should make an effort to improve the situation by communicating with the distributors, etc. to solve those problems. At least spotify customer support in Japan does not seem to be interested in improving their service at all!
