[Desktop][Discover] Show (only) new releases matching my taste

Hej,

I noticed several times that I missed releases of new songs/albums because they didn't show up under "New Releases" or "Release Radar". Instead, the mentioned sections are crowded with music I don't really like (as you should know by now - keyword #SPOTIFYWRAPPED).

I think it shouldn't be *that* difficult to filter/sort/priorize new releases according to my listening-history.

This would be a really cool and useful feature IMO 🙂

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community. We moved your post from the Ideas board to the relevant Help board, where it fits better.

We're sorry to hear that you've been receiving recommendations you didn't enjoy in the Release Radar and New releases playlists. In this case, we suggest that you select the songs that you don't like and choose the "Hide this song" option and likewise, you can like the songs you do like by clicking on the heart icon. This will help the playlist to be updated so it can include more personalized results. For more info, we'd recommend taking a look at this article.

Also, you can mute an artist so it won't be played again. From the mobile app, head to the artist's page, tap on the 3 dot menu and select "Don't play this". This will affect all your devices. Take into account that the Don't play this feature only prevents the songs by the blocked artist from being played. They might still show up on playlists and even in your recommendations, but the songs should be skipped. Currently, there's no way to visually "hide" the songs by the artist.

Additionally, it seems that other users posted this idea about the possibility to block songs. Despite its current status, you can still add your vote to it and if anything changes in the future, we'll make sure to keep everyone updated over there.

thanks for your answer. I already noticed the "block this song"-feature - I like it.

But what I was talking about was something different - for example: among the current 21  "New albums & singles" there is onle *one* album I *maybe* will listen to...
I'm aware that there aren't Metal-/Punk-releases every day, but -as I mentioned before- you should have enough data about my preferences to be able to predict what I might like 😉

It seems very difficult to teach Spotify's algorithm what music I want to hear in my Discover Weekly. Going down my list of songs, I'm finding that I'm disliking nearly every song, and repeatedly every week I get the same artists I've disliked recommended to me. I've taken to viewing the artist's pages just to hit "do not play this artist" to avoid a ton of repeat recommendations.

I'd like to be able to better teach the algorithm what I'd like to hear and I think a "play this artist less" button would help. If disliking a specific song is a push, this is more of a shove in the right direction to redirect the algorithm.

Additionally, this feature could be built upon. Check-ins with the AI like "play less of [genre]?" or "play more of [artist/genre/etc]?" might help to clarify what your users are looking for in their Discover Weekly and newly introduced DJ features.
