How to get Spotify to stop recommending Christian music every Sunday?

How to get Spotify to stop recommending Christian music every Sunday?

Every Sunday, Spotify gives me the "Happy Sunday!" rack loaded with Christian music playlists. I'm not into Christian music, am not even Christian. Is there a way to disable it?

Bump.

Trying to play kids music on an auto generated radio station inevitably ends up with “Jesus Loves You” and literally a song called “The BIBLE”. I discovered you can block artists but there are so many and it is very inconvenient.

spotify plz

Is there a Christian at Spotify that insists on pushing Christian music, come on give us an option to turn off anything with the name of God or Jesus. (Who are the same as Santa Claus - NOT REAL)

I've never seen this problem. I wonder if Spotify decides whether to program Christian music to people, based on country or state. For example, I live in New Zealand where according to the last census, 48.2 percent said they had no religious affiliation and Christianity is less than 40%. I'm sure they wouldn't be offering Christian music to people in Indonesia, India or Israel either.

Perhaps you could trick Spotify into believing that you live in a different country, state or region. Try a VPN if you have access. I'm wondering if there are other settings that can influence the songs offered. For example, if you allow explicit-content, do you still get Christian music?

Look, I am considering myself christian, even if I dont go to church or am formerly part of any religion.

What bugs me is:
- hey, this guy listens to quiet piano music
- there are lots of groups/playlists that feature piano music that are bible study groups
- we therefore conclude that Andreas must like this, too and will suggest those songs to him

Till this point all is fine

But when I am on a calm Sunday morning behind my computer, trying to figure out how to fix a tricky network problem.. and some guitar-wielding lady sings about how great the lord is and how she wants him to ride in her truck with her or whatever those lyrics are about…. Why can I not “dislike” this song/band/genre/suggestion?

In car mode I have the thumbs up / thumbs down buttons to “train” the algorithm but how do I do this in desktop mode?

Using a VPN / deleting my account - sure… that works. Bit I am on premium with access for mu whole family including the kids so deleting is out of the question.
Also I really like the “song radio” function. Reminds me a lot of the “genius mix” feature itunes used to have.

Any streaming service who can being back the “create and play an instant playlist based on that song” will receive my money at this point.

Spotify is the best so far but I really need to be able to train that algorithm somewhat.

Anyway. Enjoy the weekend. 🙂

Andreas

I'm not seeing playlists recommended to me, but my Discover Weekly always has at least 1 christian song in it, they usually sound pretty decent until they go on about god. This week it's about prayer

The only religious songs I listen to are the ones that I accentally listen to on Discover Weekly, I don't know if it's confused because I have therefore listened to some religious music the past week they'll put in one for the next week.

I just want to blacklist the genre

I agree, this is infuriating. I can't listen to the "made for you" playlists anymore as they keep putting Christian music in them, and I had to turn off the autoplay feature too. I think it is frankly supremacist that you have an option to block "explicit lyrics" like swear words, but not to block explicitly religious lyrics which are much more bothersome to me. Like you just assume everyone should be fine listening to Christian propaganda but of course we have to protect those pious people who can't hear a four letter word

Recently I've been getting this suggested playlist that says, New Songs have been added to the Worship playlist, at least give us the option to remove a playlist or Don't Recommend.

I have not followed this playlist and I checked and I've not added any of the included songs to Liked.

It been showing up on and off for weeks and was there until the minut I went back to screenshot for this article.

Another 3 years and this is still a problem.  I fully expect the Jan 6 insurrectionists' album to pop up on my playlist next.  With all the blood on Christian hands and the extremism religion breeds, there should at least be an off button.

I listen to night meditations on space, history or culture. I’m now getting Jesus meditations roll on after. Please make it stop!!

okay so I couldn’t find a way to block genres entirely which I really need there to be an option for Spotify please and thank you. Like if you’re gonna increase the monthly debt I go into just not to hear the ear bleeding screams from the horrendous voices caught on k-love Christian gospel then you might wanna give me an option to pick what I like for myself, although there is a sort of fix that works kinda well it’s just annoying. I looked up all the top 100 Christian singers and I individually blocked all 100.

Here's how I did it. I searched christian music and went into the top 10 playlists (especially the ones made by spotify) and selected "remove from my taste profile" and then I went to artists like Hillsong, Lauren Daigle, John Mark Mcmillan, etc, and selected "don't play this artist". Hopefully all this will force the app to get the point.

Why is spotify recommending Christian music to me? I haven’t listened to any and I find it very weird. I’ve had multiple daylists that are worship or prayer focused and it’s very inappropriate
