The 'made for you' feature being an automatic feature on so many playlists is just meaning every single playlist sounds the same and has the same songs in it!
The reason I want to listen to a different playlist is because I want new music not to be pushed the exact same songs I am already listening to - half of them don't even match the genre.
An option to disable this feature and just listen to the default Spotify version would be really useful as it is getting really tedious.
Also sometimes you listen to a playlist with someone else and your like oh I really like these tracks they share the playlist and then it's all different because you are logged in. Seems to defeat the object of a playlist.

Same frustrations here. After being a Spotify user for a decade, I'm considering deleting my account because of this. New music discovery is now near impossible. Even Spotify's pre-made playlists somehow become "made for you," resulting in a torturous, never-ending loop of the same few songs. I'm paying for a premium subscription only to receive a service that does not, in any way, meet users' needs or wants like it used to. Please, please, please get rid of the "made for you" feature, Spotify. The AI technology and resulting algorithms you're relying on are destroying what was once such a loved streaming service.
The current DJ and Daily Mix features are doing the same thing - I want to discover new music, but after playing just a few songs, it keeps recommending songs I've heard dozens of times before. Even if I love those songs, it gets really annoying. Because of this, my most played song in my 2024 Wrapped was actually a song I don't even like! I strongly suggest fixing this recommendation algorithm! And add a 'dislike' feature too!!!
so glad i am not the only one being really annoyed by the way spotify handles playlists, recommendations, radios etc. these days. i'm at a point were i keep getting really annoyed by spotify as i am starting to struggle to find stuff i want to listen to as it keeps recommending the same songs over and over again ... everywhere. at least this kind of brings me back to picking specific records on my own that i love listening to but it totally destroys the joy of finding new music, which i always loved about spotify. huge bummer as i feel there is no real change in sight since this has been around for quite some time now. strongly considering chaning services. 😕
Very frustrating trying to find new music related to whatever genre you want...Instead of being spooned the songs you already listen to. It's obvious it's being done so Spotify can keep those pennies in their pocket so they don't have to pay them to the next artists you might find and listen to. It screws the listener and the artists. I think it is time to jump ship and spend my money elsewhere.
100% agree with this. I get Taylor Swift all the time and I really would love to hear some new artists. I get the same songs in these radio stations - doesn't matter which artist I pick, it seems, UGH
I have noticed an increase in the number of places Spotify's original playlists are popping up which is so relieving. The Made For You playlists are still really mediocre though. Half of each one are just songs that Spotify always targets when I shuffle my Liked Songs playlist 🥴
Finally reached breaking point with Spotify radio and came on here only to find everybody saying the same thing. When I hear a new song from a completely different genre to what I normally listen to and hit that artist’s radio, I expect to find other bands with a similar sound - not a playlist full of the bands I’ve listened to for years just because they both have a guitar and came out in the same decade.
We need a toggle at the top of all these playlists to enable/disable "made for you".
It's very frustrating to have to click every playlist to see if it's "made for me" to try and find one that is not and be able to finally discover new songs...
I second this suggestion. This is, perhaps, my biggest gripe with Spotify. I love discovering new music, but every mix and radio playlist is automatically generated. That on its own would be fine, except they always contain songs you’ve already liked – most of the time not fitting the genre or mood. This is the case for all made for you playlists: genre and mood mixes, daily mixes, decade mixes, and so forth.
In order to discover new music on Spotify, you have to leave Spotify. The best options are third-party websites, such as Skiley and Last.fm, and word of mouth via online or offline communities. It’s not feasible to discover new music on Spotify. Even if you simply want to listen to music you like or may like in a specific genre or with a specific mood, many of the songs will not fit the genre or mood.
Please give us the option to disable the made for you feature. Alternatively or additionally, a toggle to simply hide any songs you’ve already liked or listened to before. This is easily one of the most common problems that people have with Spotify. I am disappointed that Spotify does not seem to listen to or care about its paying users.
Hello, 2 years later and still the same issues with the app. Every spotify playlist is 'made for (My username)' Same songs wether it's office, chill, party!
Please can you allow us to turn off this feature.

My Question or Issue
I used to be able to find good music but now it's just a bubble. I just have a massive hard time to find any new music because every single Spotify Mix playlist just keeps cycling in the same songs based on made for you and not about the genre, type, etc. Searching for music playlists becomes another disappointing experience because it favors playlists based on your tastes and not what I'm looking for. So, if I said alternative rock 2020's playlists, instead of showing actual playlists with that kind of people, the playlists shown are absolutely irrelevant or are fully filled with whatever but 2020's just to please your overall taste.
Yes, Please have the option to disable MADE FOR YOU. All I get are the same recycled songs. It's terrible for discovery of new music and very limiting.
Even when you search playlists Spotify has create it switches to MADE FOR YOU sometimes so once again I'm seeing only things I've already liked and know. PLEASE create an option to disable. I've never like this option and many others have said the same.
Even the radio feature keeps showing the same music. It doesn't feel updated
Please fix this!!!!
This is NOT what he's talking about. He's talking about how when yiou go to ANY radio station (say, "The Killers"), it just fills it with a bunch of songs you listen to anyway, which is incredibly stupid and pointless. Spotify sucks, and no doubt everyone who works there couldn't care less about their customers. The shitification of music continues.
I've got some 'Made for you' recommendations from when my kids where little. I don't listen to this playlist anymore, for over 2 years already, but still it's available in the Made for you. I already excluded it from my taste profile but it didn't help. Please let me remove Made for you recommendations Spotify!! This is really annoying.
Great idea
It's so difficult to find a way to provide feedback regarding the Spotify app that I have resorted to using this in the hope that someone will look at it. I would like an option to turn off the "Picked For You" feature displayed on the home page. None of the music or podcasts that are supposedly "picked for me" are anything even remotely related to something I would be interested in. Half of them are offensive, with images of half naked women and people sneering and yelling at one another. They look like ads for a trashy talk show. I am not interested in **bleep** gossip, girls gone wild or heists gone wrong. That sort of thing is mindless garbage, and I do not want to have to look at it when I open the app. Those things are not actually "picked for me", they're just what people have paid you extra money to shove in our faces. Even when I use the option to mark "Not Interested", I repeatedly get suggestions for the same things. I am already paying a monthly fee to use the app. Why should I have to deal with advertisements for trash? Please just provide an option to turn it off.
I think it's interesting that moderators seldom gets involved in these discussions. It seems a detailed technical problem feedback answer would satisfy most of us, and we could find our own workaround instead of griping or quitting.
Personally, I've developed a high sensitivity to having things forced on me G 👀gle and go a long way to avoid them. Without feedback from Spot we might as well be talking to a mirror or just each other. We have no idea if the issue is political, financial or mechanical. Some of us might like the feature. They are not complaining and may be a majority. It would be a little easier to accept as a minority voter in many ballot issues these days. For now I just don't look at them unless there is a artist I like in the title. And hope some bot notices the lack of interest.
