Option to disable Made for you feature

Solved!

Option to disable Made for you feature

The 'made for you' feature being an automatic feature on so many playlists is just meaning every single playlist sounds the same and has the same songs in it!

The reason I want to listen to a different playlist is because I want new music not to be pushed the exact same songs I am already listening to - half of them don't even match the genre.

An option to disable this feature and just listen to the default Spotify version would be really useful as it is getting really tedious.

Also sometimes you listen to a playlist with someone else and your like oh I really like these tracks they share the playlist and then it's all different because you are logged in. Seems to defeat the object of a playlist.

This is such a great point. I specifically go to artist radios to listen to that specific music and potentially find new music, not have songs I already like shoehorned in. So frustrating.

The artist radio feature also adds songs that they know I like, which again, defeats the purpose of seeking out an artist radio. I'd like to find and listen to new music, but spotify insists on customizing almost every auto-generated playlist.

It would be so much less work for them to just not use some complicated customization algorithm. You know its bad when users ideas include deleting their account **bleep**

"made for" sucks. daily playlist and daily mixes were enough

HOW CAN WE TURN OFF OR GET RID OF MADE FOR  feature. All I ever see now are songs I've already liked. I don't get turned on to new music or discovery much because now everything is MADE FOR me. It's terrible !!!!

Please let us create an option to turn it off?

Thanks

Coleman

I agree with all comments above. I’ve been a loyal Spotify listener from day one and now that almost every playlist and artist and song radio is made for you regardless of genre is ruining it all! Please give us the option to turn this off. It’s obvious from many forums that this is not a popular change.

No matter how much we all agree that the AI-driven "made for you" BS is garbage, I highly doubt Spotify will ever make any changes bc this allows them to not only save money by not paying anyone to curate these playlists, but also spoon-feed you the new albums they have been paid to promote (and nothing else). The thing that initially drew me to Spotify was how easy it was to find new music I liked. The algorithms were fantastic 10 years ago, but they've slowly stripped every single user-centric feature to try to make more money with the least amount of effort on their part. As they continue to strive for endless profit growth, they will continue to strip features until people start leaving and they either go out of business or are forced to make a major pivot. But I wouldn't count on them actually listening to any of us bc they did this on purpose.

Add me to the choir that "made for you" is terrible and is making me consider switching to another streaming service. I get you need a project to keep your data scientists busy, but I already know the songs I "like," and if I want to listen to them over and over again, I will stick them in a playlist myself, and put them on repeat myself.

It's so disappointing to come here hoping to find a way to turn off the recommendations and learn that it's not possible. Like everyone else, I want variety. I want to hear different songs. I don't need the songs I already have in playlists mashed together in a recommended playlist. This new "feature" defeats the purpose of having the app. If I wanted to listen to the same songs only, I would put them on an mp3 player and close my account here.

Yes! Please at least give us the option to turn off the “made for you” feature. Separate Spotify playlists are starting to sound way too similar due to this”Made for you” feature.

Well, due to all that has been discussed here, I am planning to move out from Spotify to YouTube music. However I just realized how hard is to transfer my long time Spotify playlists to another service. If anyone has a good solution about transferring at least Spotify's liked songs into YouTube Music please share.

Was this AI or did you just completely ignore the problem?

I do not even want "recommend for you" playlists; I would just make them myself.

Instead I have to fish through 20 playlists of THINGS I ALREADY KNOW I LIKE, that are just reshuffled.

When I search "upbeat alternative rock" the fact it can shuffle songs I've already clicked is useless to me. I Want money of them, and would rather see playlists of actual human beings.

Please just make an option to turn this off.

This app, probably motivated by cheap money, seems to hate the idea of a person saying "I am certain I never want this."

Just make it an option. Recategorizing songs I've already liked is not a playlist.

+1

That “feature” keeps recycling my listenings.

Even worse, often it puts together songs that seems out-of-context with each others.

Just horrible idea.

Please remove it, or provide us a toggle to disable it.

Thanks

This is the worst feature ever. Please allow us to disable it.

“made for you” needs to be an option (I wish it wasn’t even an option honestly), not by default. It’s a crappy feature that creates a cycle of hearing the same songs. Boo spotify

This is still an issue and it is impossible to escape. Even a new blank account alters playlists like song radios based on country and/or age I guess. It's absolutely awful and even if you browse incognito so you can see the actual song radio there's no way to play it because as soon as you log in the playlists changes. Even if you save a link to the playlist and then log in and follow the link it updates to the utterly useless 'made for you' radio version which means I never ever ever use this feature anymore so I'm now stuck with my own personal playlists or made for you playlists and radios that are just my personal playlists in a slightly different order.

It's getting incredibly tedious and people have been asking for this option since way back in 2022 and still nothing from spotify. Youtube music allows you to choose between three settings for familiar songs, a mix of familiar and unfamiliar and, unfamiliar songs. That's not a hard thing to implement. If there's no movement from spotify soon I shall be migrating to another service. There are multiple threads about this with may more than 50 votes so some kind of response really is justified.

This implementation of AI is a complete and utter disaster.

I use much less Spotify since this stupid Made for You function (sorry because I'm frustrated and angry of this long due issue like all other users).

Very simple, when go into the Radio of the song I like, it's automatically Made for You with most of the songs I already known and listened. So what's the point I want to use the Song Radio to discover similar new songs!?

This Made for You function RUINED all the good part of Spotify! The one who tries to keep it should be fired because it ruined how people discover new good music from Spotify!!! I believe lots of users moved to other platform because of this!

I've already disabled the autoplay option, but I'm still frustrated with those "made for me" versions of everything. Let me out of that hyper-customized experience!!!

But, as they say in their own "About recommendations" section:

In some cases, commercial considerations may influence our recommendations

This may explain why they don't even seem to consider removing it. ‌🤑

I'm VERY annoyed by this as well. I'm not sure whether the playlists I listen to were curated with or without human interaction before that feature took over. At least for the playlists that are curated automatically by an algorithm anyway, please give us the option to turn this nonsensical "made by you" off

The radio feature would be useful if it wasn't also 'made for you'. I'd love for someone to explain to me how Hozier and Chappell Roan have a similar sound or Noah Kahan and Chappell Roan or Beabadoobee and Chappell Roan. I love Chappell but she shows up in every playlist and radio. Just cause I listen to one artist doesn't mean their music relates to ALL the other music I listen too. ALLOW ME TO BE MULTIFACETED! Maybe if Spotify wasn't entirely run by AI and bots, this could actually be fixed. But alas, without 'made for you' they would have to hire real people to do work. Could you imagine *eye roll*
