[Samsung Smart TV] Spotify randomly stops playing after song or commercial ended

[Samsung Smart TV] Spotify randomly stops playing after song or commercial ended

Device

Samsung Smart TV

Operating System

Samsung

My Question or Issue

I only have this issue on my Television, not on any of my other devices. After playing a song or after a commercial has finished, Spotify does not continue to the next song, even when there are more songs queued. It just stops playing.

I tried uninstalling Spotify and then installing it again, but nothing changed. I've had this issue for quite some time now, and it's pretty annoying.

Forgot to mention that I cannot go to the next song. I need to restart Spotify, find the song I was playing and continue from there.

Hi there @emilia10,

Thanks for the post.

You can check if there are available firmware updates for your TV and let those install. If you've skipped an update, such issues can sometimes occur.

Hope this helps.

Unfortunately that didn't help. I did have an update (2501), which I installed. After that I went into the 'maintenance' menu which clears all caches and that sort of stuff. Also, I logged out of all devices and logged back in again.

After playing 2 or 3 songs, it did not proceed to the next song in the queue.

Hey @emilia10,

Thanks for getting back to us.

Right now we have an issue with what you seem to be experiencing with your Spotify app and Samsung TV. Our teams are aware of this behavior and the right folks are looking into this. We'd suggest that you go ahead and check this thread.

If the behavior is the same, feel free to leave your details like your device's model and OS version, along with the Spotify version you're currently running. Please make sure to include any other information that's requested in the moderator's reply.

Hope this helps. Take care 🙂

Hello @Lyubka,

This is not the same problem. As stated, in my case I can play music for the full duration of the song, also it progresses to the next and then plays that song for the full duration of that song. However almost always after playing the commercial and sometimes at the _end_ of the song, Spotify does _not_ proceed to the next (song / commercial). It's almost as if Spotify does not realise the end of the song / commercial has been reached. I can see for instance when it stalls at the end of the song that there are 1 or 2 seconds left to play. But it doesn't.

TV: Samsung QLED 4K

Current version: 2501

Spotify version 2023.09.11_8_335910e

I am having the exact same problem. What is the solution?

Hey @Larue107 (and anyone else experiencing this issue),

Please provide us with the same details @emilia10 has shared 🙂
Many thanks in advance!

My Samsung tv when watching a video podcast keeps pausing how can I fix this????

I don't know, I am hoping a new version is released soon. I also found this thread which might be the same issue. It's 19 pages of people experiencing the same issue, and no solution.

Same problem here. I haven’t even made it through my wrapped list, because once it glitches, that’s it for the night. It will still be stuck when I open the app again, but the next day I can get back in. It’s been happening pretty consistently since at least August.
