If you wish to avoid hearing explicit content, you can always enable this feature that filters out the explicit tracks.

Keep in mind that all metadata including the explicit label is provided by labels/artists/distributors and are shown as is. 🙂

As of why rap is so vulgar... Not all of it is vulgar. There are many rap artists that do amazing songs and do not rely on vulgarity in any way, but the recent surge - pop rap, is quite the opposite. Never heard lyrics as filthy...

I'd recommend this Quora answer, it's quite an interesting standpoint. 🙂
