Is there any chromecast 2 support for the Linux client?
Thanks!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Unfortunately none of the desktop clients in any platform (either Linux, Windows or OS X) fully support Chromecast yet. You should initiate the cast from a mobile device (either Android or iOS), and once the mobile device is casting, the desktop client will see the Chromecast device and you will be able to control it (play/pause, etc).
So you have some support, provided that you can initiate the casting first from another device.

Thanks for your quick reply. I guess I'll just have to wait for support then.
There any plans to support Chromecast 2 in future? Andr Chromecast 1 works on desktop apps?
Hey @marcoshalano
Both Chromecast 1 and Chromecast 2 do not work with the desktop apps.
Spotify has partnered with Google for this functionality and right now it only works with the Spotify mobile apps. Google has not yet released an SDK to allow Spotify to implement it into the desktop app.
As far as I recall, Spotify didn't include Chromecast support as much as Google included Spotify support in the Chromecast itself. In addition, lots of third party desktop apps connects to Chromecast, some of them freeware from small projects, so it should certainly be possible for Spotify to do.
