My Question or Issue
When I start Spotify, a black window appears, then the application immediately crashes with this message in stderr:

It looks as if with the most recent update to Pop! OS and the system76 driver, Spotify has suddenly started working. Looks like this wasn't a Spotify issue per se?
Update: I managed to get to the login screen the first time I started spotify, and checked "remember me". If I delete ~/.config/spotify, that is still reproducible, but right after login, the Title bar changes to "Spotify Premium", then the application crashes like before.

I kave kubuntu 19.04, same Spotify client version, the same version of libcurl-gnutls.so.4.5.0 and I experience the same crash on startup, showing as segfault in the journal log, etc. Has by any chance your version of libcurl been upgraded during your last Pop! OS update?
The issue is resolved here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Linux/Ubuntu-19-04-deb-package-segfault/m-p/4764926/highlig...
Spotify 1:1.1.10.546.ge08ef575-19 crashes with libcurl-gnutls.so.4.5.0. You either downgrade spotify, use snap package or temporarily (and only for spotify) use updated libcurl3-gnutls and libgnutls, as described by chris208
I have 19.10 and no songs load, web player works, this is why I will never be premium user:
Now using the web player for streaming and the snap client for local music and it's working well and on my phone. Hooray a little convoluted but it works, and I realize linux is a small market share but we want to use it too haha!
And sound comes through speakers? Nicely done!
