Hello,
It's probably a duplicate of Forward and back keyboard shortcut feature no longer working on Mac, but I cannot longer use Ctrl + Left Arrow and Ctrl + Right Arrow to change tracks on Linux.
The regression seems to have appeared on version 1.1.67.586.gbb5ef64e since I get it working by reverting to version 1.1.55.498.gf9a83c60
OS: Ubuntu, Spotify installed with snap.
Spotify, wth. How can this be an issue for almost 2 years. A lot of us are actually paying for this. Can you please pay more attention and fix this! I doubt it's more than couple of hours of work, especially since it used to work. With the latest version, Ctrl+arrow commands still don't work and there's no workaround
I totally feel your frustration with the keyboard shortcuts not working on Linux. I'm not sure if it's the same issue as the Mac one, but it sounds like it could be related. It's good to know that you were able to get it working again by reverting to an older version of the app. I'm not very familiar with Linux, but have you tried checking if the shortcuts are set up correctly in the system settings? Maybe it's just a matter of changing some settings or updating something. Anyway, I actually found an article recently about quick keys for Excel that has been a game changer for me at work. It's amazing how much time you can save with just a few keyboard shortcuts. Speaking of shortcuts, maybe there's a keyboard shortcut for changing tracks on Spotify that you haven't tried yet?
Spotify, wth. How many years it takes to fix a simple problem like this? Would you mind updating us on the actual progress of this and when it's gonna be fixed, with a particular release date rather than the usual**bleep** "we will let the developers know about this".
Why tf is basic functionality like this still broken after almost 2 years
what are we paying for, I've given 270$ to spotify since this broke, give it to an intern and get them to fix in an afternoon
Still not working for me on Lubuntu 22.04.. Can't believe this still doesn't work after all these years.
Downloaded latest 1:1.2.11.916.geb595a67 on my Xubuntu 22.04.2 -- Christ sake, even poor me can tell that the current issue is inability to detect pressed Ctrl, as all shortcust not involving Ctrl do work, but the most important with Ctrl -- do not.
There. I possibly saved you week of consulter work, with 400 Euro/hour rate -- could you please fix this now, after this and zillion passed years? For paying customer? Eh?
To change the key or keys to be pressed for a keyboard shortcut:
Open the Activities overview and start typing Settings.
Click on Settings.
Click Keyboard in the sidebar to open the panel.
In the Keyboard Shortcuts section, select Customize Shortcuts.
Select the desired category, or enter a search term.
Click the row for the desired action. The Set shortcut window will be shown.
Hold down the desired key combination, or press Backspace to reset, or press Esc to cancel.
On Ubuntu 22.04 All I needed to do is the above followed by choosing the media category and selecting next track and previous track and setting them to ctrl right and ctrl left.
It definitely is correctly detecting a ctrl press and performing appropriate actions correctly. For instance, the following commands work:
It's also correctly detecting arrow keys and performing actions correctly in the following commands:
The problem is exclusively with the following Ctrl + Arrow actions:
This is a two year old regression impacting core functionality for a media app. That's not acceptable.
Still broken in 2023... what the ...?

Still an issue on Archlinux
Happ 3th Birthday to this Post. Nothing has changed in 3 Years! I'm on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS with Newest Spotify Version installed.
Edit: The Shortcuts for CTRL + Arrow Keys are Actually in the "Keybord Shortcuts" list inside the App (See attachment) so its defenetly a Bug. I dont get how Spotify just dosn't care for 3 Years by now.
