My Question or Issue
Lossless audio seems to be missing on the flatpak spotify version. I've got it on my IOS and windows 10 device, though not on my linux machine.
When can we expect an update?
Thanks!
I am having the same issue, I am on the latest version of Spotify (1.2.63.394.g126b0d89) and Fedora Linux (42) and do not see the lossless audio option under streaming quality nor download quality. I am on the Premium plan
Same here! Looking forward to have lossless streaming on Linux Mint.
Same here, I have access to it on Windows client and Android client. But It lacks on deb version linux client. I believe it is not that hard to support so I just hope it will be available soon.
same here. aur and snap are outdated...
Same. Installed flatpak version today to check if available yet, I was disappointed.
The Linux client versions on Flathub, Snapcraft and Spotify's own deb repo are still 1.2.63. Lossless was intruduced in 1.2.67. When will the Linux client version 1.2.67 be released?
I'm waiting for the same (AUR), I do have lossless available on phone & Macbook but not on my main Linux machine.
The last update of the client was in May. I think they forgot they have Linux users. Time to look for alternatives. I want to switch to Tidal (via Free Your Music), but I am still not conviced of the ecosystem but it sounds so much better.
It usually takes some time before new features drops on Linux. I'm just glad they are continuing to support Linux ❤️🐧
As some has already mentioned, the last update was in the summer time (june for the snap: 1.2.63.394.g126b0d89 2025-06-30).
I'll gladly wait for this, hope there isn't any legal trouble getting this into the Linux client (or the engineers that keep the Linux client alive got fired).
Does not look like they are still supporting linux. Until last year the updates where flying in. In May/June this year they just stopped without communication. For me this smells like they lost interest. Mac OS and Windows have the same Chromium wrapped Application and therefore it is no work releasing the same for Linux. Just a press of a button...
Debian user here, waiting for lossless too.
Same here, finally got lossless on Android and HEOS receiver. Now really hoping for it on my Linux desktop soon- where I have my nice headphones, DAC, etc.
The whole point of FLAC is that it is a Free codec. No legal issues with playing FLACs. It is a matter of them not updating the client; No one knows whether there is a technical issue, lack of manpower, or what the case is since Spotify is ever-silent on the situation, just like every other issue. Like how they announced lossless however many year ago and it just never came, with no update and no response for years.
I am on Fedora using the RPM version and I don't have it yet either. I just recieved the update on my phone this morning though.
