Spotify HiFi on Linux desktop player

Spotify HiFi on Linux desktop player

Whenever Spotify HiFi “Supremium” comes out, I sure hope the Linux desktop player works with it.

Tidal has dropped its Plex partnership, so I'm losing the ability to play a streaming music service (TIDAL) through Plexamp, which was the best (only?) way to play lossless, gapless music directly on Linux desktop from a music streaming provider. The current Spotify Linux player does do gapless already. So hopefully it will support new hi-fi tier too!

I'd sign up for Spotify HiFi in an instant if the Linux player supports hi-res, lossless playback when it finally arrives on Spotify.

Just a ping to again plug for implementation of the new Lossless listening option within the Linux desktop app! 😃

This link doesn't seems to go anywhere, but I have learned that it's likely the Linux desktop app will support lossless based on their multi-platform Chromium Embedded Framework changes. https://serverhost.com/blog/spotify-introduces-lossless-audio-streaming-what-it-means-for-your-liste...

I will say one good thing about Spotify; they haven't left out Linux desktop users on things like gapless playback, wi-fi connect, and hopefully now lossless too.

I cant wait for version 1.2.67 that will support lossless. I don't know why the linux client is not released, but windows and mac os have the newest version. I am still stuck at 1.2.63 ...
When they do not release it this week, I have to switch back to Tidal (which I canceled because Spotify introduced lossless...)

Same here. I currently have 1.2.63.394 installed from Spotify PPA, but I checked and the available snap and flatpak are at the same version right now.
