My Question or Issue

Spotify has stopped working on my desktop computer. It still works on my iPhone.

If I remove and reinstall on my desktop, will I lose all the albums and playlists I've created?

Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

Hey @msp129, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Good question. You won't lose any saved content when you reinstall the app. Reinstalling the app helps refresh the app and can fix some common issues. Can you try a clean reinstall of the app following these steps? These steps are more thorough than the simple reinstall and can solve common issues.

If you're still having trouble, can you let me know the make and model of the device you're experiencing this on?

Let me know how everything goes!

One more question if you don't mind..

I'm not having trouble with the Spotify app on my phone. That still works.

It's Spotify on my desktop computer that isn't working.

I think I need to reinstall it, but I have a LOT of saved albums and playlists I don't want to lose.

Are you pretty sure I won't lose them if I reinstall?

Thanks for your help.

Mike

Hey @msp129

No worries. You won't lose your saved albums and playlists. You may need to redownload your content if you have downloaded them for offline use. Otherwise, your saved content will remain after you reinstall the app. Reinstalling the app only refreshes the application itself and restores it with a cleaner version that also fixes common issues.

Thanks Billy-J

I'll reinstall in the next couple of days and let you know how it works out.  I'm feeling reassured by your support.

I would have got on with it sooner except that I've just switched ISP and spent hours getting my smart devices to work with the new wi-fi network... I need some time off from staring at the screen, but I'll reinstall shortly and get back to you.

Again, thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Mike.

Thanks Billy-J.

I reinstalled tonight, found my albums and playlists intact and am enjoying Spotify again on my Linux desktop.

Weirdly though, I've ended up with the web player version rather than the stand alone Spotify, which I'd prefer. I'll look into that.

I'm going to accept this as the solution, since it allows me to access Spotify again, and send you a like.

Thanks for your help.
