UI is really unresponsive/broken on Linux client after 0.9.11 update

The latest spotify update (0.9.11) made the spotify UI really unresponsive/broken in Ubuntu 14.04. If I try to do a search, the whole application basically freezes for 10-15 seconds after typing few letters, then continues but the UI elements aren't rendered correctly. Opening notifications takes also somewhere along 10-15 seconds for them to render and then the drop down cannot be closed again and at that stage spotify basically renders mouse buttons inoperable until I go to console and kill the spotify process.

Ok, seems like apt-purge spotify-client and clearing old settings and files and then reinstalling fixed this.
