Hey there @the_cappy! Just stumbled upon your thread, not sure if you were able to resolve this issue on your end. In any case, wanted to share the following, just in case it's useful for you and other Community users finding your thread!
This looks like it could be connected to the issue that's currently reported and investigated here.
If you're still having troubles (even after trying the steps @AdamDamon shared above for example) it'd be a good idea having a look at the Ongoing Issue thread I linked.
To start, try the latest suggestions in our Status Update. It always contains the latest info we have about an issue. You can leave a reply there too once you have, so we can pass it on to the teams looking into this.
Hope that's helpful to get you back to enjoying your Friend Activity!
Have a lovely day 🙂
Hi @the_cappy,
Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!
One step that you can try, if you haven’t already, is the Top Answer from this similar thread:
Let me know how it goes, as well as if you have any other questions.
Have a good day!
I think you should go to Settings and under 'Display' toggle off the 'See what your friends are playing' and it should get rid of the button
Hi @the_cappy,
Thank you for your reply!
On top of Friend Activity, you should see a little arrow pointing to the left. If you press that arrow, your friend list should appear. Bear in mind that you can't see Artists in the right panel, only other users who you follow.
If this doesn’t work, can you confirm exactly which solutions you’ve tried so far?
I look forward to your reply, and have a good day!
Hi @the_cappy,
Thank you for keeping me updated!
Can you let me know what steps you’ve tried so far?
Also, can you send a screenshot showing the whole app screen?
I look forward to your reply, and have a good day!
Hey @the_cappy,
Thanks for the reply.
Could you also upload a screenshot of how your Spotify Friend panel looks like. This will help us investigate this further.
Cheers.
Screenshot of my panel is as attached thanks
Hey there @the_cappy,
Thanks for the screenshot.
Can you try the following:
You can also go into Settings> Display > See what your friends are playing. Try switching this one on/ off and check whether that removes the Connect With Facebook button.
Keep us posted on how you get on 🙂
Hi @the_cappy,
Thank you for your swift reply.
We'd like to try a couple of things to narrow this down and find out if this is related to the app or your account itself.
Can you log in with another account, such as a friend's or a family member's to see if the issue persists? Alternatively, you can create a free account here.
If the issue persists, could you try accessing your account with a different PC and see if the sidebar can be closed?
Keep us posted.
Kindly refer to my screenshot. Created test account and the facebook connect persists. Toggle "show friends feed" on/off and its still there...
Hi @the_cappy,
Thank you for your replies and screenshots!
I know that you’ve already performed a regular reinstall of the app, and I would next recommend trying a clean reinstall of the app; this is more thorough than a regular reinstall, and can be helpful to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.
As an additional idea, can you access your account from a different PC to see if the issue persists?
I look forward to your reply, and have a good day!
Hi @the_cappy,
Thank you for your reply!
Can you try with the test account on the second Macbook, to see if you can disable the feed using both methods @Alex shared in this thread?
Also, can you share a screen recording of the process (how you disable the setting and after you go back to the app’s main screen)?
Keep me posted, and have a good day!
