Can't sign in to Spotify. Error Code: 22. Version 1.0.89.313.g34a58dea

Can't sign in to Spotify. Error Code: 22. Version 1.0.89.313.g34a58dea

Running on OS X Mavericks. I went to go do something and I came back to my computer and my spotify was logged out and I can't seem to log back in. Is there any sort of backend update that happened recently that would cause this? I would switch to the web player but the audio cuts out after about 10 seconds so I can't use it. I've tried changing settings to select 'No Proxy' but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Hey there folks,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community.

We understand your frustration and we'd like to explain a bit more of what's happening here.

At Spotify, we are always working to provide our users with the best possible listening experience. We continuously encourage users to use the latest version of our app as it contains the newest features and bug fixes.

To pave the way for a broader and better user experience, we have shut down Spotify desktop application versions that have been released before April 2021. That’s why customers who have been using an app version released before then will lose their access to the app after the sunset.

Older versions of the app often have broken or missing features due to their old interface, which cannot support the latest Spotify experience. In addition some of these old apps have security vulnerabilities associated with underlying older technologies. These vulnerabilities are not available on the latest versions of the app and can only be eliminated by shutting down services built with older technologies.

If you own a computer (Mac or Windows) with a version of Spotify app older than 1.1.59, then you should try to update the app to the latest version to keep enjoying Spotify, we have instructions on this support page to help you. We recommend making sure that your Operating System is updated to the latest version first.

In the meantime, you can also enjoy your favorite music and podcasts through the Spotify Web Player.

Lastly, don't worry - your account is still active and no changes will be made to your playlists, play history or preferences.

Hope this clears things up.

I've cancelled my subscription instantly after learning of this, and will never be coming back.

How much effort would it cost for a multi-billion dollar company to make a tiny patch to support old OS or versions and look after their paying subscribers? A few hours? A few days, at most??

Of course, Spotify will spin up that it's amazing new advertising "features" can't be implemented on older versions, or there is a critical security issue or such – all complete lies. Spotify doesn't care about its loyal users enough to even let them know they are breaking their own software for thousands of its users. Good riddance.

Same problem here.
Dear Spotify developers: the contempt I have for you is only matched by the contempt you seem to have for the historical users of your product.
Of course, I could (as an iOS/macOS developer for many years) go on and on about why you're screwing up so badly.
But considering the level of stupidity you have reached, nobody can save you anymore.
So I'll avoid wasting my time with degenerates like you.
Even the interface of your WEB version is getting rotten!
I'll switch my playlists to Deezer and it will be easier.
Adios.

why isnt there a "update/upgrade" button? the only error is that i cant login, no info at all what its about, feels very premium

I am using the web since I have 10;10 and linked a icon to my mac.  The problem is there is no way for sonos to be used in we b unless I link my phones-why would i?  How do you get web to find sonos?????????

same issue here, please don't actively kill the service for paying customers.    It's bad form.

Tried a couple of more times, but now the login bugs out with "Error code: auth:2" instead.

Big red square...    Red means danger for you UI/UX guys out there. 🙂

I was being blocked from logging in to my existing premium account by Error 22.

I went to my Account page, where all my accurate member info was up to date, including my premium status.

Here's what I did. There is a field for requesting a change of current billing charge card to a new one. I did that, which seemed to solve some or all of my problem.

Then, when it gave me the "setup.exe" file to download, I ran it but elected to use the Microsoft Store install, as opposed to the "no I'll do it" that I usually do.

So Microsoft installed the app, that seems like the ticket to me, all has been good since then.

Don't use your old desktop link or any other previous shortcuts.

Curently I'm using spotify.com to log in until I figure out how to create a shortcut to the new install.

Good Luck

Spotify Web Player**bleep**, it's desperate, the songs stop, I play a song and suddenly another one sounds

"The latest Spotify experience", I don't want that I just want it to WORK, again plz.

I don't understand how a company like Spotify leaves its premium customers without services. I have:

Device - macbook mid 2015 Operating System - Yosemite 10.10.5

I have been premium for more than 10 years, is this how you take care of your customers????

I have the same problem, web and Android works however.

Same problem here. When I try the webplayer I'm getting the following error message:

Something went wrong Try reloading the page

Stuck in a never ending loop of getting nowhere.

Same here error code : accesspoint:22' - so it's not clear whether this is relevant to the comment above about the newer version/compatibility issues. If y'all were going to do this, you couldn't have put up a message about updating to the newest version? RIP, exploring other options.

accesspoint:22, the Spotify experience!

I have the same issue. I do not understand how Spotify can think that it's fair to force me into upgrading my system.

I am not having it.

What an absolute joke these clowns couldn’t run a bath

bye bye you money grabbing scroatbags thanks for ruining people’s enjoyment of music without any notice or respect for your customers

absolutely clueless

My Version worked absolutely perfect, no issues. When I opened the app in the morning it didnt work anymore. Yesterday, 25th of May, everything worked!

As a music producer, using spotify for references, this situation would mean new System, leads to new software, leads to new Mac etc. Although my whole system and everything I`m working with, except of spotify, works absolutey perfect, I need to invest thousands out of nothing. Is there any solution for the problem, anything I can do?

Hi,

I just compiled a list of solutions to this issue. You may want to see them here

"If you own a computer (Mac or Windows) with a version of Spotify app older than 1.1.59, then you should try to update the app to the latest version to keep enjoying Spotify" is predicated on the assumption that we enjoy the latest version of the app which we do not. While this response is informative, it reveals an unwarranted disregard for user feedback at a corporate level. Why bother having a channel for users to submit ideas and provide feedback if that feedback is disregarded out of hand?

The "services build with older technologies" for some reason includes the layout of the UI on a desktop application? I call bull. UI has absolutely nothing to do with technology: it is only a visual display of information. Sure, there is a new technology to speed up or enhance streaming quality or more efficient algorithms for more compact file storage. But the visual display of information (album/song title, artist, playlist, etcetera...) is just that: information. Stop wrapping it in a way people can't use. This is a desktop for crying out loud! I have the visual real estate of an entire monitor to display such information. Cramming all that into a tiny sidebar essentially this software useless.

Found same problem. Honestly, I don't think it's a good practice to take all of us out of the application because we didn't update our operating system on our Mac. I have quite a few applications running on the old system and none of them kicked me out.

Will you please fix this fact? Or should I reallocate my budget for the annual subscription to Spotify to a new buy of an iMac?
