My Question or Issue

My Spotify player always opens at login, never had any issues and now I cannot get it to open. Every time I click on the icon, it just tries to open and then closes straight away. I tried restarting my computer and reinstalling the app and this hasn't changed anything. I still cannot open it.

Unfortunately reinstalling hasn't fixed the issue for me. All I get is the infinite loading page and then "Something went wrong". The mobile iOS app and the web browser are the only way I am able to listen to Spotify. There are a few albums / playlists that I am able to view (All New Now and Release Radar), but when I click to play a song, it just does nothing.

Hi there, @wngyee

Thanks for the reply!

First, let's try forcing quit the Spotify desktop app. You can use the Activity Monitor if necessary: Command + Space > search "Activity Monitor" > find "Spotify Helper (Renderer)" > quit the process. Then, try following these steps to see if it makes any difference:

  1. Open Finder, then click on the Go menu in the top menu bar.
  2. Hold down the Option (Alt) key and select Library from the menu that appears (the Library folder is usually hidden).
  3. Navigate to the Caches folder and delete the com.spotify.Client and com.spotify.client.helper folders.
  4. Go back to the main Library folder. Open Application Support and delete the entire Spotify folder.
  5. Go to your main Applications folder, drag the Spotify app to the Trash, and empty the trash.
  6. Restart your Mac.
  7. Download and install the latest version of Spotify from the official website

Let us know how it goes!
