Music stops playing when I close my MacBook

I have a mac book air, and whenever i am playing music through my earbuds and i shut my macbook, the music pauses. is there any way i can play music when i shut my macbook?

Have you already checked your Mac power saver settings by chance? You can find this in your System Preferences>Energy Saver.

When you close the lid of your Macbook it may be putting the HD to sleep which would pause your music.
