Spotify crashing immediately after opening

Solved!

Spotify crashing immediately after opening

Hi,

For the past few days, I cannot use my Premium Spotify. The problem started after I restarted my MacBook. Spotify launched automatically when I opened my Mac but it did not open completely. It logs in for a second; but before even I can enhance the tab and use it, it closes. I tried to open it several times after but it failed every time without any error messages. How can I fix it?

Thanks.

Hi there and welcome to the community,

Could you try doing a full reinstallation of the app, including removing your local cache/data files.

Try a clean reinstall. This usually works for most people with this problem:

  1. Click Spotify in the menu bar, then Quit Spotify.
  2. Open Finder then click Go > Library in the menu bar. (You may need to hold the Alt key if Library isn’t visible).
  3. Open Caches and delete the com.spotify.Client folder.
  4. Click the back arrow.
  5. Open Application Support and delete the Spotify folder.
  6. Go to http://www.spotify.com/download and reinstall Spotify.

Don’t worry about losing your favorite songs - all your playlists will be waiting for you when you sign in again. You’ll just need to redownload any previously synced music.

I can't uninstall the program - it says "the uninstaller failed to start"
