Hello,
Spotify won't load the social activity bar, friends profiles or artist pages (remain blank, with a find people tab on the SB). It's working other than that. Happened after I installed the update this morning. Tried loading a previous version, that will open artist pages, but not the social bar (and it updates itself pretty sharpish).
I'm a premium user on a mac running OS X 10.7.5
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Toby

I have the same stupid problem and it's been going on for weeks. Just adding my voice to the chorus.....
So it's 2014 now and this still hasn't been fixed. Can you at least provide an update on what you think the issue is and what you are doing to correct this significant functionality that I'm paying for?
I have had this problem for several weeks now and it is really starting to get on my nerves that i can't see what my friends are listening to. I like to hear their music because it makes me feel like they are close to me but now I can only stare at songs that they listened to months ago. i am a paying member and i really hope this issue will be resolved FAST!
Have you guys tried a clean reinstallation recently?
The number of reports about these type of issues has fallen pretty dramatically lately compared to a few months ago so wondering does your cache just need emptied.

I did a clean reinstall THREE times already but it goes from bad to worse because now it shows activity from even WAY before that. I am on a Mac with the newest version of spotify but it just doesn't seem to work. Another problem i have encountered is that there is a spotify file in my trashcan that i cant seem to delete because it is already in use which is impossible. this file got in there during the clean reinstall but before i tried reinstalling the activity feed was still messed up.

Yes i went to finder, then library, then deleted the com.spotify.client it went in my trashcan and i deleted it. after that i went to the app support and i deleted the spotify folder itself while it was getting rid of the com.spotify.client files. now i cant seem to delete one 58.5 MB file that has been made on a sunday 8 december 2013 at 20:48 which was a spotify one because it is already in use and it appears to be damaged so how is that possible? after that i tried it another two times but then i didnt get the problem that i couldnt delete a file. Anyway i still cant see the updated feed of my friends and i know they are listening to music. the file i cant erase is also known as libcef.dylib does this ring a bell?
I did a an uninstall on my windows box and then used Agent Ransack to remove any file that had Spotify in it's name. Did a reinstall and my activity bar is different than before. Time will tell to see if it keeps updating or if I just stay stuck with the same menu bar like it was before. I'll post an update after a couple of days of use.
I have the same issue, activity not updating.
Spotify software quality is pretty horrible.
Real worthless client support here. Lots of us still have these issues but some don't report them any more as Spotify staff have no desire to solve this (as noted here, how long is this going on?) and they go elsewhere. Its no use stating lower count of help calls, let us know how many have left because of this poor attention to paying customers. This is not a hobby project any more, some of us haver been paying for years but end up with poor service. Communication from authorised Spotify staff is abismal - how not to service your clients 101.

@hfxrzw Support here is pretty informal. If you are still having issues, please please use the online contact form and someone at Spotify will help get this sorted. If you get an automated response directing you back to the community or to the help pages, make sure to reply to it directly to speed things along.
I have given up. Aren't we here to post problems and wait for solutions? I think it's ridiculous that we have to wait so long for a decent explanation or an answer. I'm switching to last.fm and itunes. Spotify has totally blown it for me. I'd rather pay for each album individually than accept this kind of customer treatment any longer.
I do understand but this isn't an official support forum, nevetheless and I strongly urge anyone who has issues which can't be resolved here to get in touch through the official support channel.
Mate, I understand what you are saying, but look at this issue. For how long has it been going on? And no fix from Spotify. The only thing they give is to reinstall and then hope its fixed. IT IS NOT! Every time I try that I get messages being shown of months ago.
Further this is an official Spotify forum, not something that is being hosted elsewhere.
I fully appreciate the help some of you are giving, but where's the manufacturer/owner/seller in this? Hanging you out to dry without proper solutions.
It seems we are the Quality Test for the programmers and when there is a (possible) difficult issue they don't fix it, but continue selling the faulty service. I have no issue with the good people on this forum, but Spotify is a poor organisation by any standard for letting this continue to remain unfixed.
I noticed both issues on the 0.9.7.16 version yesterday. For me, a restart of the software solved the problem, but that may have only been a coincidence. Pretty sure its in the stream itself and not the software. Same behavior that I've seen in the past. Activity feed doesn't load and CPU usage goes way up. First time in a while that I've seen the artist page not load, though.
They may be testing something for the next release, who knows. In any case, I can certainly understand the frustration.
My activity feed was stuck for ages. Tried the facebook app deletion fix but didnt do anything.
I took a peek to poke around with Spotify app files.
(On Windows) Went to C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Local\Spotify\Browser\Local Storage,
renamed both ...feed_0_localstorage and ...feed_0_localstorage_journal files, and did the same
to the two facebook related localstorage files.
Then restarted Spotify (recreates those files) and reconnected to facebook from "File-> Connect to facebook"
and after adding couple of bands and friends to follow, saw the "Updating" blinking in activity feed and something
new came up also from a followed friend.
Don't know how long will work though...
"We're currently working on some new developments that will solve this problem for you all."
No, you're not!
Nah, stuck again. But better yet, rename(or delete) the whole C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Spotify\Browser folder before starting Spotify. Showed newer stuff then. Could even script that to happen every time when starting...annoying.
I have to agree with some of the complaints in this thread, activity feed stopped working entirely for 2 weeks now. Artist page/discography sometimes load and sometimes not. I did all the suggestion, clear cache, clean reinstall.
Do I have to uninstall/reinstall everytime I want to start the client?
I appreciate all the help given by the senior members of the community here, but then again I still would like to hear an official statement or announcement from the company / development team / from Spotify themselves.
What's the current status of activity feed? Status of the Collection? What's the current official latest version of the client? Why some people have the new black version some do not?
I think for now I wont continue my free premium trial. Very2 few problems are answered by the Spotify staff themselves, mostly only senior members helping out. You guys should ask Spotify to pay you for doing their job.
I have been experiencing "select" activity feed updating. For example, one friend I am following has music updating to my activity feed, but three other friends (out of four) do NOT update at all. One of the friends that do work and I have tried to solve the problem on both of our ends, including:
Unfollow and refollow
Log out and Log in to refresh activity bar
Complete uninstallation and reinstallation of Spotify. (Current Spotify version: 0.9.7.16.g4b197456)
I have Windows 8 Pro and I though this may be the issue (even though I think its trivial). I then reinstalled Spotify in Windows 7 compatibility mode on my 8 Pro OS to test that possible aspect. Nothing has worked. I am a Premium user and pretty pissed off. These other users are not all premium, but this should also really not matter, at least it shouldn't.
This is a serious problem if premium users can't see any real time activity updates from "certain" friends that are following each other and sharing playlists. Please any technical help for the engineer over here that hasn't felt this useless with any application or program before would be very appreciated!!!
