Spotify uses 100% of CPU

My Question or Issue

Since yesterday, Spotify and its associated helpers consistently use ~100% of my computer's CPU. Every time I open the program, my computer's fans scream so loud I can barely hear any music. It's like this even when Spotify is just idling in the background. I did a clean reinstall following the instructions here, but it made no difference on the CPU usage.

I've been having the same problem for a while using Windows 10 on the same computer, and when I use the app on my phone, it always crashes about 30 seconds into playback. So your entire service is unusable for me.

I tried toggling the local files and restarting, per here. It didn't fix the problem.

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:

• Could you try logging in with a different account and see if that makes a difference? You can use the account of someone you know, or make a new one.
• When did this first start happening? Did this coincide with an update to Spotify or the device itself?
• Screenshots or a video of the behaviour from all affected devices.
